NASSAU, June 2, 2009 (AFP) - New Zealand and a team from South America will have the chance to host return legs in intercontinental playoff ties for the 2010 South Africa World Cup, according to the draw made here on Tuesday.

New Zealand are the only team so far qualified for the series of home-and-away playoffs that will determine World Cup berths for teams who don't advance directly from regional qualifying.

They will play off against a team from Asia that emerges from a playoff between the third-place team from Asia's Group A and the third-place team from Asia's Group B.

Those matches will be held on September 5 and 9, with the Group A team hosting the opening leg.

The Asian team will host New Zealand on October 10, with the return leg on November 14.

The fifth-placed team in South American qualifying will battle the fourth-placed team from North and Central America and the Caribbean with the matches scheduled for November 14 and 18.
