THE HAGUE, Aug 31, 2009 (AFP) - Norwegian coach Trond Sollied has been sacked by Heerenveen, the Dutch first division club announced on Monday.

The 50-year-old joined Heerenveen at the beginning of last season and in May led the side to victory in the Dutch Cup, their only major honour to date.

The former Rosenborg, FC Bruges and Olympiakos manager has paid the price for Heerenveen's poor start to the season. Having picked up four points in their opening five matches, they currently occupy 14th place in the Eredivisie.

Sollied, who becomes the first coach to be sacked this season in the Dutch top-flight, will be provisionally replaced by Dutchman Jan de Jonge.
