Di Maria extends Benfica stay

LISBON, Oct 2, 2009 (AFP) - Argentina international Angel Di Maria has extended his contract with Benfica until 2015, the Portuguese first division side announced on Friday.

The 21-year-old winger, who joined the club in 2007, extended his deal by three years with a new get-out clause of 40 million euros.

Benfica spent nearly 25 million euros on new recruits during the summer transfer window.

The club are currently second in the championship two points behind leaders Sporting Braga.
