PARIS, Nov 28, 2009 (AFP) - Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gregory Coupet fractured his leg in the 1-0 win over Auxerre on Saturday and could be out for the season, his coach Antoine Kombouare revealed.

"It's definitely a fracture of the left leg," Kombouare said after seeing his goalkeeper leave the pitch on a stretcher in the 82nd minute.

"He went straight to hospital and we'll know more about how serious it is on Sunday. He'll be unavailable for a long time and it will be very complicated (to get him back before the end of the season)."

The 34-year-old former France international injured himself when he got his studs caught in the turf after making a clearance late in the game.

"It's a very serious injury, it's shocking," added Kombouare. "It sends a chill down your spine. We're losing a great player and a big leader."

PSG left-back Sylvain Armand said: "I was close to the incident and I saw the bone poke through his sock."

Club president Robin Leproux said Coupet's injury had over-shadowed the match.

"Greg's injury completely ruins the evening," he said. "It affects us massively."
