SYDNEY, Dec 2, 2009 (AFP) - Australia's Newcastle Jets Wednesday re-signed English striker Michael Bridges for another two years, keeping the in-form player at the club until the end of the 2012 season.

The 31-year-old former Leeds and Sunderland player, who has scored four goals in seven starts this season, said he was "absolutely delighted" to stay at the A-League club.

"It's been fantastic since I've come here, on and off the field I've loved it," he said. "The boys have been fantastic, the people in the area have been great, and to sit down and extend the contract it was an easy process."

Newcastle chief executive John Tsatsimas praised Bridges, whose promising English Premier League career was cut short by injury, as the "consummate professional".

"He obviously has adapted to the Newcastle culture, the city and the club, he has been a revelation and a success with our club and we are very excited to have him here," Tsatsimas said.
