Zidane: I’d ‘rather die’ than apologize to Materazzi

In a recent interview with Spanish newspaper El Pais, former French midfielder Zinedine Zidane said he “would rather die” than apologize to Marco Materazzi, the Italian player he headbutted in the 2006 World Cup final. Full Story.
This just almost makes me sad to think of a World Cup without Zidane. I remember watching the infamous headbutt live while I was on vacation in Vermont and it was quite possibly the most exciting part of my trip. His quotes are absolutely priceless and I can only pray that someone steps up to the plate and brings this summer’s prestigious competition some flair. Not to say that the World Cup isn’t as exciting without it (cause it is..) but it surely wouldn’t hurt either. All this Wayne Bridge-John Terry nonsense isn’t going to cut it. Zinedine, you will be missed my friend.
