6/26 20:30 GMT USA vs Ghana – Stats
USA and Ghana will do battle in Royal Bafokeng Stadium, Rustenburg on Saturday in a rematch from World Cup 2006 where Ghana knocked the US out of the group stages. Carlos Bocanegra, Landon Donovan, Steve Cherundolo and Clint Dempsey are just four of the US players that will specifically remember the disappointing loss four years ago.
USA:
Revenge will only add to the motivation for the United States as they look to prove their rising status in world football. The US was 2 minutes away from being sent home when Landon Donovan slotted in the injury time winner to see the United States deservingly go through to the knockout stages. The vuvuzelas however, hopefully drowned out the boos for Jonathan Bornstein as he was subbed in for Oguchi Onyewu. The former striker has been criticized for his lack of concentration and lackluster tackles. Tim Howard provides a calming presence that puts any defense at ease. Timmy very rarely makes a mistake and will need to continue his run for the United States to have a shot at the quarterfinals. Watch out for his deadly accurate throws which set up the US goal in injury time changing modern day soccer as we know it. Donovan who has more than proved his talent as a world class player, will need another good game if the US wants to advance.
Ghana:
Despite Ghana’s struggling economy, not only the entire nation, but a whole continent will be behind the Black Stars on Saturday. Ghana represents Africa’s last hope in World Cup 2010 to shine on home soil. Ghana will remember knocking the United States out of Germany in 2006. Ghana’s bad boy Kevin-Prince Boateng will need to step up (without breaking any ankles) for Ghana to have a good game. Michael Essien‘s absence is obviously a big loss, but the boys are certainly making the Chelsea superstar proud.

Prediction:
Ghana has the hopes of a continent on their back, and will look to be the third African nation to reach the quarterfinals (Cameroon in 1990 and Senegal in 2002). The Black Stars however, have only netted 2 goals in the group stages and both have come from the penalty spot (Asamoah Gyan). In short, Ghana has a difficult time scoring, while the US having scored in each of their matches, has created countless opportunities. Another hard one to call, but the USA will get their revenge and be on their way to the quarterfinals to play either Uruguay or South Korea. Wait, that means the United States, Uruguay, South Korea or Ghana are guaranteed to be semi-finalists.
Pick:
USA 2 – 1 Ghana

U.S.A. will not know what hit them until they arrive on the white house lawns to meet President Obama. Ghana will bury them.

[...] Uphill battle for the Black Stars. Tough one for me – I don’t want to root against my own country, but I don’t want Ghana to lose, either. [...]

Dude, Jozy looks like he is about to kill Bradley in that picture. Got some air on that one. I hope the US scores a touchdown and wins 7-0. Donovan is world class and should be playing for Manchester United or Liverpool next season. You heard it here first folks. GO USA!!!!

Ghana will teach USA how to play while they teach how to use their money (LOANS)
White is waiting to hear that history and posterity has not been in favor of them on the pitch
