Group C neighbors Glasgow Rangers and Manchester United will do battle this Tuesday in the Champions League Group Stages. The Rangers will travel to Old Trafford to face the might of the Red Devils.

Manchester United:

Manchester United still has a bad taste in their mouth after conceding 2 stoppage times goals to let Everton come back to draw and steal 2 vital points from United. This time around, Rooney and Ferdinand (out since May) will be ready to return to the squad. Rooney, although undergoing serious media attention, proved he can still perform well but has yet to break out into the player we all know him capable to be. A couple of goals in this and his season could kick-start. Valencia should play in Park Ji Sung’s stead. Berbatov is finally playing as if he cares and was brilliant in Saturday’s feature with Everton. As for injuries, everyone, apart from Michael Carrick (Achilles), is fit. United will remember their last home Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich who knocked them out of the tournament last year. With essentially the same squad, manager Sir Alex Ferguson and company will rely on experience.

Glasgow Rangers:

The Rangers are not going into Old Trafford expecting a result, but will pack it in and try to make it respectable. Steven Whittaker is nearing full fitness and could provide a boost for the Rangers. Kirk Broadfoot however, is still struggling to overcome an ankle injury. New Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic is ineligble to play against United but has spoken out about shocking the Red Giants with an upset. Kenny Miller perhaps presents the largest threat to United, but it is the coaching relationship that presents the biggest positive for the Gers. Club manager Walter Smith has assisted Sir Alex on several occasions, one with Scotland and one briefly with United. Smith has hinted that he will go with a heavily packed defensive lineup and even joked about a 6-4-0 lineup. Can the Rangers do the Scottish “Pub” League proud (“The Moose” on Talksport)? Good luck bluenoses.

Kyle Lafferty
Kyle Lafferty provides a bit of flair against Kilmarnock.

Prediction:

Manchester United will not miss this opportunity to gain vital points at home in Old Trafford. The Rangers have not won a game in their last 10 Champions League tries and facing Man United will not do anything to change that statistic.

Pick:

Manchester United 3 – 0 Rangers

Spread betting is any of various types of wagering on the outcome of an event, where the pay-off is based on the accuracy of the wager, rather than a simple “win or lose” outcome, such as fixed-odds (or money-line) betting or parimutuel betting. A spread is a range of outcomes, and the bet is whether the outcome will be above or below the spread. Spread betting has been a major growth market in the UK in recent years, with the number of gamblers heading towards one million
