10/20 20:45 BST Inter Milan vs Tottenham Hotspurs – Odds | Stats
Inter Milan will host Tottenham at San Siro in a battle for the top spot of Group A. Rafa Benitez will do his best to outsmart his familiar foe Harry Redknapp come Wednesday. Inter has all of the experience need to win this game against the Champions League newcomers of Tottenham.
Inter Milan:
The treble winners have managed to continue their good form under new manager Rafa Benitez. It has been Samuel Eto’o this time around, that has allowed il Nerazzurri atop their game. Eto’o has an impressive 4 Champions league goals in 2 games and 6 goals in 7 Serie A matches. Eto’o scored the only goal of the match against Cagliari over the weekend amid racist chants. Benitez no doubt has the edge against Redknapp through Champions League experience. Playing at home is San Siro is always a huge advantage as well. Inter will play in the 4-2-3-1 formation with 2 holding midfielders behind the ever dangerous Wesley Sneijder. Eto’o commented on the fact that Benitez’s style of putting pressure allows the forwards to win the ball further up the pitch.
Tottenham:
Tottenham is enjoying their first ever run into Champions League play. Injuries present the biggest concern for manager Harry Redknapp. Forward Jermain Defoe, Midfielder Wilson Palacios, Defenders Michael Dawson and Jonathan Woodgate, and Ledley King are all out with injuries. Worse is the fact that Midfielder Rafael van der Vaart with 4 goals in 6 games (in all competitions), will miss the match due to a red card in the last Champions League game. The signing of the season, Van der Vaart will likely be replaced by young Brazilian Midfielder Sandro. Aaron Lennon on the other hand is back with the squad after recovery from injury. Redknapp will not go for the knock out punch but will sit back defend and try to take advantage of counter attacks. The Spurs are well aware of Eto’o's recent form and will try to break up play in the final third.

Prediction:
Inter is too good in San Siro. Tottenham, with little experience, and a long list of injured players will have a much better chance of winning the second leg at home.
Pick:
Inter Milan 2 – 0 Tottenham
