The Group of Death returns to action Wednesday as AC Milan host Real Madrid in San Siro. Mourinho and company got the best of AC Milan in round one, but i Rossoneri will look to avenge their loss to Real on home turf. Managers Mourinho and Allegri are no strangers but it is the new Real coach who has all of the Champions League experience.



AC Milan:


Last time around, Mourinho’s men simply outclassed the boys of Milan. To make matters worse, AC Milan is just coming off a very important league fixture against Juventus. Juve came away from San Siro Saturday with a very surprising 2-1 win. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was Milan’s only threat to score and managed a 2nd half goal to give Milan a chance at a comeback. Ronaldinho should be making a comeback from injury and should provide some attacking creativity in the midfield. Pato again, is Milan’s real threat when he is fit. Ibrah will need to continue to use his strength to hold up the ball and give room for Pato to make runs in behind the defense. As for injuries Daniele Bonera picked up a knock and will most likely miss the match against Real. After recent losses however, Milan will need to keep their heads in a match of this caliber. A win in San Siro is vital if Milan (4 points in 3 matches) want to remain second in Group G standings.


Real Madrid:


Real showed their class in the come from behind win against Trezeguet-led Hercules. Los Blancos looked rather sluggish in the opening half, but Ronaldo’s brace was enough to see Real through to the win. The introduction of Benzema proved to be the decider as he played a major part in both Ronaldo’s goals. Whether Mourinho will chose to start the striker remains the question. Angel Di Maria has proven to be Mourinho’s best signing of the summer, as he provides a balance to the attack. With Di Maria and Ronaldo attacking from the flanks, Real have weapons at all angles. Ozil as well, has played brilliantly in Kaka’s stead. Los Galacticos have not conceded a goal in 3 Champions League matches and sit atop Group G with a full 9 points.

Prediction:


On paper, with the squads relatively even, it is the experience of Mourinho who has the advantage. Real is very quick and precise with the counter attack. Milan’s defense is questionable at best so look for Real to take advantage. Both sides have an incredible attacking prowess, so it should be a good one to watch.
