High-flying Spurs host the underachieving Reds Saturday afternoon at White Hart Lane. Liverpool, after spending some time in the relegation zone is finally back in the top half of the tables. Tottenham on the other hand, have had impressive wins and comebacks in both Premier League and Champions League play. This North London showdown looks to be a good one as both teams will go for the win.



Tottenham Hotspur:


A win at home against Liverpool would claim 3 consecutive victories for the Spurs. Tottenham stunned Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium with a terrific comeback after trailing 2-0 down. Tottenham then manhandled Werder Bremen midweek in Champions League play and have qualified for the round of 16 with a game to spare. Jermain Defoe came on as a sub during the 3-0 win over Werder Bremen and could feature as a starter. The likes of Tom Huddlestone, Rafael Van der Vaart, and Michael Dawson however, are still missing. Much of the Spurs success has come down to the sheer pace and finishing of Gareth Bale. Currently 6th in the tables, a win could move the boys into the top 4.


Liverpool:


After a dismal start to the season, Liverpool have won 4 and drew 1 in their last 6 Premier League games. The Reds lie in 9th position in the tables only 3 points away from the Spurs and 9 from leaders Chelsea. As for injuries and bans, Lucas Leiva is available after a one-match ban. Captain Steven Gerrard, however, is still out with a hamstring strain. Striker Joe Cole could return for Liverpool after a similar injury. Most importantly, a win at White Hart for Roy Hodgson and company should instill some confidence to the players to finish among the top 4.

Prediction:


The last two meetings between the teams at White Hart Lane have ended in 2-1 for the home side. While Liverpool has struggled away from home (1-2-4 away), Tottenham at White Hart Lane (3-3-1 home) is not the most reliable. This one has a tie written all over it.
