12/19 16:00 GMT Chelsea vs Manchester United – Odds | Stats
Manchester United travels to Stamford Bridge to face the might of Chelsea in one of the most anticipated Premier League matches of the season. This match has the potential to make the league a race between the top four at the turn of the year. Or, it could simply extend the gap between United and the rest of the field.
Chelsea:
Chelsea has played a total of 8 Premier League matches at home this season, winning 6, drawing 1, and losing 1. Against United at home, Chelsea has been even more impressive. In the last nine home matches against United, Chelsea is unbeaten, winning 5 and drawing 4. After the best possible start to the season, Chelsea has drawn their last 3 Premier League matches. Good news is that Frank Lampard is finally set to start for Chelsea. Coach Carlo Ancelotti has some problems with injuries in the back-line but it is the lack of finishing that has plagued the Blues as of late. Jose Bosingwa will undergo a last minute test but Yuri Zhirkov, Alex and Yossi Benayoun remain sidelined through injury.
Manchester United:
In United’s 1-0 win against Arsenal, The Red Devils set a club record for the best ever start to a season. On top of that, Manchester United is still unbeaten in the Premier League. Berbatov has shown the world why he is in fact at Manchester. Javier Hernandez (Chicharito) has continued to shine. It is just a question whether the two get the playing time from Sir Alex. Rooney and all of United supporters are still waiting for the striker to come out of his shell. Ji-Sung Park was the hero against Arsenal and tends to come up in the biggest of games. Defender Nemanja Vidic will need a good match to stop Didier Drogba who, on his day, is unstoppable. United will examine Paul Scholes, but Owen Hargreaves, Michael Owen and Antonio Valencia are still absent.

Prediction:
With the return of Lampard, Chelsea look like they are back to a relatively full squad. United however, remain unbeaten in the 2010/2011 season. With Drogba, Anelka, Lampard, Rooney, Nani, and Barbatov, there is a plethora of talent on display. Who will step up and shine come Saturday? Sorry United, you will not escape the New Year unbeaten. Chelsea, at home, tightens the race this time around.
Pick:
Chelsea 1-0 Manchester United
December 17th, 2010
