FULL REVIEW - Paddy Power (8.42)
Founded in 1988 by the merger of three existing Irish high street bookmakers, Paddy Power's mission is to make 'risk-based entertainment' more accessible and fun. While the company specializes in small stakes, fixed odds sports betting, it also offers odds on a number of non-sporting and novelty markets, such as election betting and the outcome of popular TV events.Paddy Power has pioneered a number of new products such as 'Lucky Numbers' (betting on which numbers will appear in the UK and Irish Lottery draws) and 'Betting In Running' (live betting on sporting events while they are taking place). They also offer Guaranteed Prices on all UK and Ireland Horse Racing and Greyhound Racing.
In addition, they cover all major national and international sporting events such as football, Live NFL, tennis, golf, hurling, Gaelic football, snooker, cricket, rugby, and Formula One racing.
Besides the website, which went online in 2005, Paddy Power's online/telephone division operates Ireland's largest telephone sportsbook, Paddy Power Dial-a-Bet. And as of October 31st 2008, the company operated a total of 258 licensed retail outlets in the UK and Ireland. They also offer mobile betting.
Paddy Power is great for the casual punter who likes to have fun with betting, but is also prepared to take large bets. Because of its Irish/UK focus, however, it only accepts payment in GBP and Euros.
Additional site features: "Over the Line" blog, video section, racing and football commentary section, online racing forms and analysis for the next 5 days, a bet calculator.

I've also had the bet not placed message and upon reattempting it realized it had taken several sums from my account. Paddy power did also not payout on a bet and said they issued the wrong odds, but waited until the match ended to state this, and issue a lesser sum. They knew this during the match as they paid out directly after, and paused to see if the bet would lose.

Soon get restricted on the internet if you back horses that shorten. The shops will take a fair bet and the offers are amazing so if you got a paddy power near you do not bet with the other monkeys
I had an account with Paddy Power for years, hardly every won a thing until last week when I won £3700, the majority of which from a £3 bet. But guess what, there not paying me the money. They say I have a newer account which I closed and therefore I shouldnt be using their site full stop, funny how though took my money until I won. If you want to get paid out for your winnings dont bet on here, it just appears they will find a reason to not pay you when you actually win!
Run by Arseholes who could not score in a whore house no good customer services would not take my details for withdraws jumped the right hoops like a bitch to get my money no joy so just said post me the cheque and close my account no more Muppet e mails money back shits. Hate them Ladbrokes is the way forward no hassle.
Short version - signed up, deposited £10 with PayPal account, lost it, deposited another £25 with debit card, lost that, went to deposit some more and sytem had blocked my account. What follows is my conversation with a customer adviser. START Welcome to Games Live Help. John M has joined this session! Connected with John M John - Welcome to Live Help, my name is John M. How can I help you today? Me -apparently there is an issue with my login details John - Can I please get your username and your name? Me - cjkace John - Could you confirm your Mother's maiden name please? Me - XXXXXXXXXX John - Could you confirm your Date of Birth please? Me - 19th January 1970 John - You have deposited with a paypal previously but the paypal is not in your name Me - and? John - Its against site rules to use someone else's pay methods on the account Me - the account is in my wifes name, but is a family account. Paypal don't like multiple accounts at the same address, or didn't when we signed up over 8 years ago John - Can you confirm the name on the account Me - if its against the rules why didn't it flag BEFORE you took my money? Me - entered wife's name John - Ok I have removed the paypal from the account and your paddypower account is active again for you Me - ? Have you refunded the £10 from PayPal? John - There is no £10 on the account to refund Me - No cos it was lost - but you are saying that I can't use PayPal, as it's not my account (I can't find any rules that say I can't use PP in my wife's name) so I would have thought that you'd refund the £10? John - It does state clearly in the terms and conditions that you agreed to that you can only use paymethods in your own name. Please read all the terms that are available on the site if you are not sure of anything Me - I can't even find the terms - no link on the front page John - I will direct you to them John - Go to www.paddypower.com John - Click on help centre at the top right John - Then type in terms and conditions John - This will bring up all the terms that you have agreed to John - Is there anything else I can help you with? Me - yes - cancel my account please John - Your account is closed for you now Me - it doesn't say in teh terms about having to own the bank account Me - what section please? John - Have you read all the terms available there? Me - yes - have asked it to find 'account' and 43 are shown of which none mention that the bank/PP account must be in my name John - I will refer you to section 40 of the terms Me - So you will be cancelling the transaction? John - Transactions means any pending bets or wagers Me - and refunding the £10 that Paddypower took in error John - You do not have any on the account Me- So who do I complain to in the Isle of Man and ask to investigate - or do I just complain to PayPal? Me - you shouldn't have accepted the funding - and a larger issue is evident - what if I had transferred more than £10 across? John - Also I must say that we have not taken any funds from you or from anyone in relation to this account - you have deposited funds to this Paddy power account John - You have deposited and spent the funds Me - Believing that I was ok to - the section is so easy to miss Me - Why does it not just say that in order to deposit funds you must be the account holder for any bank, card etc Me - instead in the middle of a wall of text it says - Paddy Power also reserves the right to suspend or close any account and cancel any associated transactions where the account holder and the owner of the funding instrument are not the same. Me - So I repeat who do I pass the details about this on to? John - I cannot say why it does not say something else - all I can say is the terms are there and unfortunately you cannot use anothers persons pay method John - What details do you need to pass on? Me - A complaint that you accepted a wager from me, from an account not in my name, without checking? Had I been attempting to defraud someone, it looks like I could have taken more and lost it before your system flagged? Someone, somewhere should be interested in the lack of security? Me - Not that I'm that bothered, as I've saved money by you closing the account, I just dislike terms and conditions that are deliberately unclear John - We cannot stop you or anyone else from depositing with any method - that's why we make it clear in our terms you must use your own paymethod - Me - and a system that doesn't monitor deposits is so ripe for abuse Me - seriously? John - Once you have deposited we then perform a check to make sure the method is in your name Me - but by then it could be lost - and some innocent be out of pocket John - Thats how the online industry works - you can use anyones card for most online transactions - But once you make that deposit with us there is a security check performed - Me - i'm astounded to be honest, that you have zero checks BEFORE a bet is made with a deposit John - If the details do not match the account is suspended Me - no it isn't - checks are made BEFORE goods or services are released END Can't believe that PaddyPower is so lax on it's security, and am tempted to ask the Isle of Man Gambling Commision to look into it. The relevant section in their T
still my favourite after many years - have never come across so much swearing though in the poker rooms
Stop attacking Paddy Power just because of jealousy or without any reasonable arguments. I joined with them several months ago and never had any problems. The reason for that is I got my account VERIFIED by them. I sent them bunch of documents of my passport, driving license, front/back copy of my credit/debit (in my case debit) card and after they checked them emailed me that everything is ok and I won't have any problems regarding withdrawal and everything else. They didn't even ask me to send all this documents, I did this on my own because sooner or later every bookmaker will ask you to prove your id and age. Therefore, my friend gamblers, always verify your account first and then enjoy betting with any bookmaker. And by the way, I'm very fast payed out by Paddy Power, in about 5-15 minutes after the match finishes. Just verify your account and every bookmaker should treat you good (the reliable ones). Peace...
I joined a few online sites all at once and Paddy Power is the best. Good customer service, quickest to pay out, easy to use site for horse racing and slots play fair. Offers are crap though but not really intersted in those
Unable to watch online football. Also played bets and results still not in til after 30 minutes. Tried to complain and just not listed too. Closed account. Would not use again
Paddypower WILL steal from you. Man U v Barcelona was about to start and i fancied a bet. Went to Paddypower and saw a no lose deal. The Ad read - Place any bet and if Barcalona win you will get refunded. This ad was running after kick off so i thought I can’t lose if I bet on Man U. I went to put £100 on Man U when and error kicked up ‘your bet was unsuccessful’. So I try again and ‘unsuccessful’ message appeared again. It took 3 attempts to get the confirmation message that the bet was placed. One week on and i find on my bank statement 3 x £100 taken by Paddypower. I call Paddypower to explain it was a fault on their site and that the site gave me ‘unsuccessful’ messages. The transactions were recorded seconds apart so it was obvious placing 3 x £100 bets seconds apart was not normal betting behaviour. Why wouldn’t i just place a bet for £300? Paddypowers response: As i didn’t verify that the ‘unsuccessful’ message were true or not it is my fault. So basically i need to check and double check whether their site is telling me bullshit or not. In other words, in Paddypowers own words YOU CAN’T TRUST PADDYPOWER WITH YOUR MONEY. You can’t trust the messages on their site and you must always double check your transaction history to see if the messages were true or false. (I have a conversation on tape to this effect) Event though it’s obvious that my intention was to place 1 x £100 and i explained a fault on their site (Paddypower error messages which i would expect to trust) they still felt they had the right to keep my money. I’d say this was more theft and they seem to have the right to do this. So if you don’t want to end up in this situation the best thing is to totally avoid paddypower.com. They have no system in place to deal with issues like this and they are more than happy to steal your money through faults and bugs that occur on their site and hide behind legals or blame you for the faults. Paddypower falsely advertises to trick you into losing your money. Even though the Man U v Barca deal only applied before kick off Paddypower were clearly advertising the deal all over the site during the live period (after kick off). This is to clearly trick you into placing a bet. When i questioned Paddypower as to why they were advertising the deal during the live period when it only applied to before kick off they said that if I clicked through there are pages of terms and conditions. These terms and conditions explained the deal was only valid before kick off. So i was expected to read pages of deal terms and conditions to discover that the deal they were currently advertising as live was actually ‘not live’. Unbelieveable! Filthy cheating thieves comes to mind. This is clearly false advertising and should be banned. Tricking people into placing bets because of a deal that does not really exist should be a criminal offence in my opinion. So at the end of all this what was meant to be a £100 refundable bet turned out to be a £300 legal mugging by Paddypower. If 10 people read this article and are put off by using Paddypower then that's more than £300 of loss. Is it really worth the arrogant cheating attitude you have towards your users? -1 out of 10 for me
Quick Customer Service, Easy to use Website, Good Offers and Great Poker Freerolls...
After waiting 12hrs for bets to be settled and being fobbed off 7 times by customer support ("out of our hands sir") I cancelled my account. Granted the website is easy to use but beware because your money is very easily tied up with them and good luck getting a response. Vote with your feet.
It's dangerous to bet with Paddy Power online. They will place winning bets as losing and then not answer your emails when you complain. There is better out there
I had been with Paddy Power for 3 years when "technical difficulties" arose with my account. They put a 10 euro limit on my account and if I wanted to put in a higher sum they had to make phone calls and took about 30 minutes! They are an absolute job and very rude customer service. They claim to respond to emails in less than 20 minutes but it can take days. I never had any of these problems with Bet365 or Boylesports. Paddy Power take the fun out of gambling!
