Avalanche vs. Kings Best Bet

The first night of the 2023-2024 NHL Season has already started, but some of the biggest matchups of the first-week start on day two. One of the biggest matchups for this Wednesday's slate of games is the Colorado Avalanche going on the road to take the Los Angeles Kings.

This matchup has the tightest line, according to DraftKings. As of Tuesday night, both the Avalanche and the Kings are listed at -110.

The Kings won two of the three meetings against the Avalanche last season. They've won two games versus Colorado on the road with their only loss being at home 4-3 three games before the start of the 2023 NHL Playoffs.
The Kings are attempting to get past the first round of the NHL Playoffs for the first time since winning the Stanley Cup Final in the summer of 2014.

The Avalanche had been to the playoffs in the last six seasons. They won the Stanley Cup Final in the summer of 2022 with a 4-2 series win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, who were looking for a three-peat. The Avalanche attempted to repeat as champions this past season but lost in the first round to the Seattle Kraken, who were in their second-ever season as an NHL program.

This game on Wednesday is going to determine a lot about the teams that both the Avalanche and the Kings are going to be. Colorado made some significant changes to their roster as always, but also placed heavy enthusiasm on young elite talent through the 2023 NHL Draft. The Kings have made many changes to their roster as they are making a serious chase for a Stanley Cup. Two of the biggest free agent signings are long-time veteran and former Kings center Trevor Lewis and former Ottawa Senators Cam Talbot.

There are more questions than answers when it comes to the 2023-2024 NHL Season, including the potential of the Avalance and the Kings. The Avalanche are a more composed and experienced team, but the Kings are desperate to start a serious run for the postseason. In the end, teams can't ride off emotions forever, which makes the Avalanche the smart team to bet on.
