LA Galaxy vs LAFC Predictions and Picks
In a California-based series where the speed and direction of play can easily go in the favor of either side, it’s tempting to look at the tie. Even though LAFC will be the favorites here, they have still collected a number of worrisome results in recent weeks.

In their upcoming third El Trafico encounter of the year, both the Galaxy and LAFC will look to secure the upper-hand in the series after each side has already claimed a win apiece.
Left licking their wounds after losing to the Galaxy 2-0 in their latest meeting last month, LAFC has looked inconsistent as they’ve since collected a win and a defeat. Without key players like Carlos Vela and Eduard Atuesta who are still recovering from injuries, last year’s Supporters’ Shield winners are far from the dominant team they once were.
The Galaxy, on the other hand, has somehow punched above their weight with their own set of injuries. Without the injured star striker Javier Hernandez, and with scattered minutes for a recovering Jonathan dos Santos, the Galaxy have powered their way through with three consecutive victories.
The Galaxy might be the underdogs here, but they should be feeling high on morale when looking at how things are going for LAFC.
Key Players Likely Missing For LAFC
It’s one thing for your leading goalscorer and playmaker to be missing, and it’s another for the glue in your midfield to also be absent.
Without Vela in the frontline, LAFC has still been able to rely on other talented wingers and strikers like Bradley-Wright Phillips, Diego Rossi and Brian Rodriguez to make some magic in the final third.
In the midfield? That’s a different story. Although they were easily able to get the job done earlier this week in a 5-1 demolition of the San Jose Earthquakes, the result was the first time since the resumption of the regular season that the midfield has looked competent without Atuesta.
Against a Galaxy team that won’t be afraid to be more physical and aggressive, there are no guarantees that midfield names such as Francisco Ginella, Mark-Anthony Kaye and Jose Cifuentes can recreate what they did to the Galaxy.
Galaxy Have Looked Like One Of The Top Teams In MLS
Boosted by the win over LAFC, the Galaxy have now collected nine points and eight goals in their last three games. Carried by Sebastian Lletget’s two goals and two assists during that run, the league’s five-time champions suddenly look like a strong candidate that could claim their sixth in the near future.
In even better news, there are also reports that they could have Hernandez back in the mix.
According to a report from ESPN earlier this week, the Mexican striker
…could be back for this weekend’s derby against LAFC…
Efrain Alvarez Upward Trajectory Can Continue This Weekend For The Galaxy
At the risk of overhyping a budding talent that is still fine-tuning and honing his craft, one of the defining moments of Alvarez’s young career could arrive in his next match.
Once described by former teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the “biggest talent” coming out of MLS, the 18-year-old attacking midfielder recently got a chance to shine for the Galaxy after scoring his first-ever league goal in the latest 3-2 win over the Timbers.
Things can only get better from here for the young Mexican-American, and after scoring his first MLS goal, he might have the confidence to steal even more headlines this weekend in a high-profile game.
