Busch Clash at Daytona 2020 - Predictions and Odds

The wait is almost over for the NASCAR enthusiasts.

There is now less than one month to go before the start of the 2020 NASCAR season.

But before the Daytona 500 gets underway, there will be plenty of action on the high banks.

It all begins with the 2020 Busch Clash at Daytona, the traditional non-championship event that kicks off the new year in NASCAR.

A 20-car field has been confirmed for this year’s edition.

The race distance will remain at 187.5 miles and 75 laps, split into one 25-lap and one 50-lap segments.

Here are the best picks for the first NASCAR race of 2020.

Favorites to Win the 2020 Busch Clash at Daytona

Denny Hamlin

Denny Hamlin, the defending Daytona 500 winner, is the early favorite for the Clash.

A two-time 500 winner and three-time Clash winner, the Joe Gibbs driver has a very solid record in February.

Hamlin has finished six times inside the top 4 in the last eight Daytona 500 starts, with two wins in the last four.

He also won the Clash in 2006, his first year as a full-time driver, and then again in 2014 and 2016.

The Joe Gibbs driver came close to winning it in 2017 as well but crashed out from the lead after contact with Brad Keselowski.

Hamlin led 95 of 229 laps in the last four Clashes, an impressive 41.5% and by far the most by any driver during that span.

Kevin Harvick

Kevin Harvick, also a two-time Daytona 500 winner and three-time Clash winner, is another very good pick to consider.

The Stewart-Haas driver finished two of the last three Clashes in the top 10.

Harvick won the race in 2009, 2010 and 2013.

While he has shown the pace to win at Daytona, his results haven’t really reflected it.

Harvick is currently riding a sequence of seven championship races without a top 10 at the superspeedway.

His record in the non-championship races during the month of February, on the other hand, is much better.

The 2014 champion has two wins, six top 3 and nine top 10 finishes in the last ten Gander RV Duels.

Harvick won the grid-setting heat last year, extending his streak of consecutive finishes inside the top 5 to four races.

Brad Keselowski

Brad Keselowski is the third pick to consider for the weekend.

While the 2012 champion is widely regarded as one of the best superspeedway racers, he has never won a championship race at Daytona in 21 starts.

Keselowski’s record in the Clash, however, is significantly better.

The Team Penske driver has only missed out on the top 10 twice in seven starts.

He came close to winning the event in 2017, but made contact with Denny Hamlin after making a move for the lead during the final lap and finished sixth.

His first win at Daytona in the Cup Series finally came in the 2018 Clash.

Keselowski led a combined 61 of 229 laps in the last three Clashes.
