GoBowling at the Glen 2019 - Predictions and Odds

The NASCAR Cup Series makes the second of three stops at road courses this season.

This time it will be Watkins Glen’s turn to host the top series.

Road courses haven’t provided many upsets in recent years as they used to in the past.

With eight playoff spots still available, drivers will have plenty of motivation.

Six previous winners at The Glen will take the green flag in 2019.

Favorites to Win the 2019 GoBowling at The Glen

Martin Truex Jr.

Martin Truex Jr. is the man to beat at road courses.

The Joe Gibbs driver is coming off back-to-back wins at Sonoma, including one in this season’s first road course race.

He was one corner away from winning at Charlotte last season as well.

Truex finished second at Watkins Glen, and again came close to winning.

The 2017 champion won at The Glen in his championship season.

Truex has three consecutive top 10 finishes at the track, and six in his last eight starts at road courses.

He is sixth in points this season but is tied for the series’ lead in wins with four.

Kyle Busch

Kyle Busch is the only driver in this year’s race to have scored multiple wins at The Glen.

Watkins Glen is, in fact, one of Busch’s best tracks overall, holding his third-best average finish.

Busch’s 9.36 average leads all driver at The Glen.

The Joe Gibbs driver has one finish outside the top 20 at the track.

Busch is a three-time pole position winner, with two race victories.

The 2015 champion has one win, two poles, five top 5 and nine top 10s in his last ten starts at The Glen.

He is second in points with four wins, 11 top 5 and a series’ best 18 top 10 finishes.

Joey Logano

Joey Logano struggled in his last two starts at Watkins Glen, with a best finish of 24th.

But these results don’t tell the whole story, as Logano was coming off four consecutive top 10 finishes.

The Team Penske driver won at The Glen in 2015 and finished second the following year.

Logano only has one top 10 finish in his last five starts at road courses.

However, #22 had one win with four top 5 and five top 10s in the five starts before that.

The reigning champion, Logano is also the points leader this season.

He has two wins, nine top 5 and 14 top 10 finishes.

Outside Picks for the 2019 GoBowling at The Glen

Chase Elliott

Chase Elliott will be looking for a repeat this year as the defending race winner.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver scored his first career victory in the Cup Series last year at The Glen.

A win would bring some much-needed momentum to his team.

After scoring his and Chevrolet’s first victory of the season, Elliott went on to add another four consecutive top 5 finishes.

But his form fell off significantly after that, with seven consecutive races outside the top 10, including three DNFs.

Elliott is now down to eighth in points with one win, six top 5 and seven top 10 finishes.

Denny Hamlin

Denny Hamlin finally found his way around Watkins Glen after struggling at the track for many years.

He scored an unexpected win in 2016 following a sequence in which his best result was a 19th place.

The Joe Gibbs driver finished fourth in 2017 and scored the pole-position in 2018.

Hamlin finished fifth at Sonoma earlier this year.

He now has five top 5 and six top 10 finishes in his last eight starts at road courses.

Hamlin is fifth in points with three wins, ten top 5 and 13 top 10 finishes.

Momentum will be on his side following his third victory of the season.

Daniel Suarez

If you are looking for a good underdog, then Daniel Suarez is your pick.

The Stewart-Haas driver finished fourth in 2018 and third in 2017 at Watkins Glen.

It could be the track where the Mexican driver scores his first career win.

Foreign drivers have a solid record at The Glen with both Juan Pablo Montoya and Marcos Ambrose scoring wins there.

A victory would be huge for Suarez, as he has now dropped outside the postseason cutoff.

He is down to 18th in points and will have some additional motivation to win at The Glen.
