BKN: Shooters Must Convert

Many will look at the Brooklyn Nets’ last game against the Milwaukee Bucks and focus on Kevin Durant’s incredible scoring effort. But head coach Steve Nash will look at his key role players and focus on their struggles from range.

As a whole, the Nets didn’t shoot poorly from three in their last match. But the combination of Kyrie Irving, Joe Harris, and Jeff Green shot a disappointing four of 16 from three-point range.

In a way, that trio was lucky for Kevin Durant’s huge evening scoring the ball. But in order to take a win in this game against the Bucks, the Nets need more from the players that will share the court with Durant.

Nets Key Player: (G) Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving has a difficult job as a point guard, having to decide whether or not he should run the offense or indulge himself and Kevin Durant in their scoring efforts.

In his last game, Irving posted 20 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. While his overall numbers look solid, his lack of efficiency from the field, eight of 21, was more representative of his evening.

For the Nets to beat the Bucks, Irving needs to be more effective in shooting the ball.

MIL: Command the Glass

It’s rare that the Milwaukee Bucks get beaten on the glass, but when they faced the Nets in their last matchup they had as much as they could handle in the rebounding department.

The Bucks were outrebounded in their last game, 45 to 53. While Brook Lopez and Giannis Antetokounmpo are difficult to manage for any team, they still weren’t able to limit the Nets from collecting 14 offensive rebounds.

Milwaukee won their last game against the Nets, but it was incredibly close. If Milwaukee can’t control the Nets’ extra opportunities from the glass, it’ll be difficult for them to come out victorious again.

MIL Key Player: (F) Giannis Antetokounmpo

Two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Award winner Giannis Antetokounmpo looked every bit the Hall of Fame-bound player that he is in his last outing against the Brooklyn Nets.

Antetokounmpo posted 49 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three blocks on 21 of 36 shooting from the field. He also spoiled head coach Mike Budenholzer by converting on four three-pointers.

When it comes down to it, Antetokounmpo is one of the NBA’s most unstoppable forces. Whether or not his teammates show up to support him is another question.
