Pelicans vs Kings Predictions and Odds
New Orleans has shown some up and down defensive form, but they should still have the edge against the Kings in this match. Sacramento’s struggles to find production outside of Fox and overall lack of offensive creativity will hurt them.

The New Orleans Pelicans are coming off of their first win of the NBA season’s restart. After losing their first two matches against the Jazz and the Clippers, they took a victory against their chief rivals for an eighth-place the Memphis Grizzlies.
While all of the spotlights are on sensational rookie Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram has been a steadying force for the Pelicans in a pinch. Averaging 20.3 points and 5.7 rebounds on 42.6% shooting from the field over the past three games, Ingram continues to impress.
They face a Sacramento Kings side for the first of two meetings during this NBA season restart. They lost their first game to the Kings by a slim margin, after allowing the Sacramento based outfit to shoot 57.1% from three.

|Kings’ Top Performers|
The Sacramento Kings are yet to register a notch in the win column since the NBA season has resumed. Despite a, more or less, favorable schedule the Kings have squandered opportunities.
After losing Marvin Bagley for the season, the Kings have relied even more on De’Aaron Fox. The third-year guard has delivered. Fox is averaging 26.7 points, six assists, and 1.3 steals per game on 48% shooting from the field. He’s been abysmal from three, 20% on five attempts per game, but you can’t say he’s not been impactful.
The Kings face a Pelicans team that is looking at them like a reprieve from a difficult early restart schedule. Dangerous from all areas of the court, the Kings must maintain their defensive efforts while also finding a way to be more efficient on offense.
Kings Roster Notes
(F) Marvin Bagley – 21 Jul 2020 – Out For Season (Foot) – The Kings announced that Bagley underwent an MRI on his right foot and will miss the rest of the season.
What’s At Stake?

A win for the Sacramento Kings would bring them level in with the Pelicans and Suns who are tied for 11th in the Western Conference.
Over the course of 60 regular season meetings, the Pelicans lead the Kings in the all-time series 34-26.
The Pelicans Guards Must Defend
— NBA UK (@NBAUK) July 31, 2020
The New Orleans Pelicans have been vulnerable at the point of attack to this point in the NBA season restart. Jrue Holiday and Lonzo Ball can be solid defenders, but De’Aaron Fox has been incredible for the Kings. It’s not that they need to shut a single-player down, but Fox’s 26.7 points per game, six assists per game, and 48.6% shooting from the field is the catalyst for the Kings’ attack.
Fox is one of the best at attacking the rim in the league, while New Orleans are 28th overall at points in the paint allowed per game with 52.5. Not stopping the Kings’ perimeter attack will only open up opportunities for their many shooters. The Pelicans’ success will be defined by how well they guard the perimeter.
Sacramento Must Stop the Three

— Sacramento Kings (@SacramentoKings) August 4, 2020
All eyes are on the interior dominance of Zion Williamson for the New Orleans Pelicans. However, in order for the Kings to take this game, they’ll have to slow the Pelicans’ attack from a three-point range. In wins, the Pelicans shoot 41.2% from three and 33.9% in losses. It is clear that the Pelicans will shoot, regardless of rhythm, backed by the fact that 35.9% of the Pelicans points per game come from three.
Sacramento is the top ten in protecting the paint, but 16th overall in points allowed from three per game. Despite scrambling to force the Mavericks to a 22% three-point conversion rate in their last match, they still lost. They’ve shown they have the energy to run players off the line, but finding the balance on the offensive end to create off of extra opportunities is crucial to their success.
