NYK: Four Quarters of Effort
The New York Knicks are coming off of a win over the Toronto Raptors. While they looked to be cruising to an easy victory, they let their foot off the gas pedal and almost gave up the game.
At one point in their last game, the Knicks were up 18 points. Cue a third quarter highlighted by being outscored 34-22 and a facilities delay and the Knicks were fighting for their lives. Despite an effective night from Julius Randle and RJ Barrett, the Knicks’ role players didn’t provide enough to stave off the run.
The Knicks bench contributed 27 points on the evening but struggled when faced with a game opposition. Against a Lakers bench that sports Montrezl Harrell, Alex Caruso, and Ben McLemore, the Knicks can’t take a break.
LAL: Ball Movement
The Los Angeles Lakers are famously undermanned at the moment, unlikely to sport the likes of Anthony Davis or LeBron James in this matchup. The Lakers role players have been able to pick up the slack as of late.
In their last game, an impressive 126 to 101 victory over the Brooklyn Nets, the Lakers put in a full team effort. Eight different players scored in double digits, while Frank Vogel’s team assisted on 30 of their 47 field goals.
The surprise star was Talen Horton-Tucker, who dropped 11 assists to lead the game. This team can’t rely on one player to win them the game at the moment, so their current trend of ball movement and conversion is promising for their chances.

It’s always a fun event when a player faces off against their former team, but Julius Randle will be doing it on the second night of a back-to-back where he struggled from the field.
In his last match, Randle posted 26 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. He struggled from the field though, shooting just seven of 19 and one of eight from three. His saving grace was his 11 of 11 night from the free throw line.
Randle needs to find a more efficient way to score the ball. With Andre Drummond protecting the paint, Randle can’t settle for shots like he did in his last match.
Lakers Key Player: (G) Talen Horton-Tucker

— Los Angeles Lakers (@Lakers) April 11, 2021
The Los Angeles Lakers were reportedly unwilling to part with sophomore guard Talen Horton-Tucker at the trade deadline and he’s been showing his value as of late.
In his last four games, Horton-Tucker is averaging 15.5 points, 4.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals on 43.4% shooting from the field.
Horton-Tucker’s newfound versatility, from an 11-assist night in his last game, is a welcome surprise. Already a solid shooter and slasher, Horton-Tucker’s ability to find the right passes are what is keeping the Lakers’ shorthanded unit together.
