Vikings vs Bears Predictions and Picks

Dalvin Cook is back and he is going to be a huge factor on Monday night and tough for this middle of the road Bears run defense (ranked 14th) to stop, so expect them to be able to cover this spread for the gambler’s win.

Pick:

Vikings -3 (-110)

In the last two games, Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook has been on absolute fire, gaining 476 total yards and scoring six touchdowns, production that has led to two wins in a row and giving his team a much-needed spark after starting the season 1-5 and hopeless.

This Week 10 test in front of the Monday Night Football world will tell us if the Chicago Bears are the real deal and worthy of a playoff run or if they can’t win the big ones and will be one of those NFC North also-rans far behind the Green Bay Packers.

These two NFC North rivals have played each other 118 prior times (including 1 postseason game), with the Chicago Bears winning 56 of those games and the Minnesota Vikings winning 60 of the games, plus there have been two ties.

Can Vikings RB Dalvin Cook Continue to Stay Healthy and Productive?

On the 4th of November, Vikings RB Dalvin Cook was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Week 8, and right now he leads the league in total rushing yards with 858 and total rushing touchdowns with 12.

And Cook also leads the league in rushing yards per game with 122.6 on his stats sheet right now, so he has provided the type of spark on offense that this Vikings team had totally been missing.

If the 3-5 Vikings have any playoff expectations, they need to start winning as soon as possible and having a playmaker like Cook healthy and on the field could be the turning point the team was needing.

Can Bears QB Nick Foles Continue to Get the Job Done?

So far in 2020, QB Nick Foles has gone 2-4 for the Chicago Bears completing 187 passes for 1,746 yards and 10 touchdowns with 7 interceptions for a passer rating of 83.8, a lukewarm number that will not turn many heads when it comes to renewing contracts.

Foles was asked to step in once the opening day starter under center, Mitchell Trubisky, proved ineffective at best and scary at worst, so all the team is really looking for is someone who can manage the offense for a couple of touchdowns while the defense shuts opponents down.

Foles had a decent outing in Week 9 in the Bears loss to the Titans, completing 36 passes for 335 yards and 2 touchdowns with no interceptions, the type of production that could help Chicago sneak a Week 10 Monday Night Football win.

Editor’s Picks

Vikings Key Player: (WR) Justin Jefferson

Vikings rookie wide receiver Justin Jefferson has been a key factor to Minnesota’s passing attack, giving QB Kirk Cousins another reliable young set of hands to target as this team’s offense slowly begins to reignite.

Jefferson has caught 34 balls off 44 targets for 627 yards and 3 touchdowns, production that would be a pleasant surprise from a veteran receiver but seems even more remarkable from a first-year player.

A first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft (22nd overall), Jefferson excelled at LSU during their championship 2019 season and will continue to be an important part of this struggling 25th ranked Vikings passing offense.

Bears Key Player: (DT) Akiem Hicks

The 6’4” 352-pound Akiem Hicks will be a key to the Bears ability to stop Dalvin Cook on Monday night, the nine-year NFL veteran defensive lineman a brutal force to reckoned with for QBs and RBs alike.

For instance, Hicks has already had 3.5 sacks on the season plus 13 quarterback hits, proving to be a challenge that any opposing passing attack has to take into consideration.

Against the run, Hicks is just as effective, right now with 35 total tackles, with 7 of those for a loss behind the line of scrimmage, plus Hicks has had a fumble recovery and has defended a pass, all factors an opponent has to game plan around.
