Injuries continue to be the main story in the NFL this odd 2020 regular season, with soft tissue takedowns running rampant among every football franchise, taking out many a big name and playmaker.

Despite that, certain physically decimated teams like the San Francisco 49ers still found a way to win, while other teams, like the Denver Broncos, had trouble finding victory with their backup QB, a depressing story that applies to quite a few (too many) other teams.

This week contains some exciting matchups that could make or break a few of these teams, while the remaining unbeaten squads will continue to fight for perfection, and here we take a look at NFL picks against the spread for Week 4.

Denver Broncos (-2.5) vs New York Jets

How to watch: TNF, Thursday, Oct 1, 8:20 PM ET, NFLN

After the Denver Broncos failed to score any second-half points with backup Jeff Driskel under center, head coach Vic Fangio benched Driskel for his backup, Brett Rypien, who failed to lead the team to a comeback, and now either QBs could start in this one against the Jets.

The 0-3 New York Jets have become a disaster under head coach Adam Gase, with their third-year quarterback Sam Darnold looking like his development has completely stopped, having thrown three interceptions in Week 3 and looking eternally clueless.

Home or away, take the Broncos and bet against these Jets, at least until they can get their flight pattern back on track, which could soon involve a change in leadership.

Pick:

Denver Broncos -2.5   (-110)

Seattle Seahawks (-6.5) vs Miami Dolphins

How to watch: Sunday, Oct 4, 1:00 PM ET, FOX

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson has a league-leading 14 passing touchdowns in just three games, and it would have been 15 had his main target D.K. Metcalf not been stripped, this team with two 100+ yard receivers in Week 3, Metcalf and Tyler Locket, who caught nine balls for 100 yards and three touchdowns.

Everybody wants to keep calling Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick a temporary fill-in until “Tank for Tua” finally pays off and backup rookie Tua Tagovailoa finally plays, but FitzMagic is eternal and the journeyman posted 2 touchdown passes in Week 3 off 18 completions and 160 yards plus he ran one in for a TD.

This will be a fun game to watch, but in the end, it most likely won’t be the Dolphins that give the Seahawks their first loss, and Wilson and the company should be able to take care of business in Week 4.

Pick:

Seahawks -6.5   (-110)

Cleveland Browns vs Dallas Cowboys (-4.5)

How to watch: Sunday, Oct 4, 1:00 PM ET, FOX

Still a bit rusty on both sides of the ball, the Cleveland Browns are 2-1 and have a winning record for the first time since the 2014 season, and more importantly, they look dangerous executing HC Kevin Stefanski’s run-first offense featuring Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt balanced with QB Baker Mayfield’s accurate arm.

Nobody is sure what is wrong with the talented Dallas Cowboys but despite QB Dak Prescott throwing for 472 yards and 3 touchdowns, they got the loss against the Seahawks on a last-second interception (one of Prescott’s two), and the lack of production from Ezekiel Elliott (14 car, 34 yds, 1 TD) certainly didn’t help.

If the Browns can suit up a healthy defense that can execute Joe Woods game plan to neutralize Zeke, they could win this game outright, let alone if you give them that many points.

Pick:

Browns +4.5   (-110)

Los Angeles Chargers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-7.5)

How to watch: Sunday, Oct 4, 1:00 PM ET, FOX

It typically does not go well when a rookie has to take over under center, but that’s the situation in Los Angeles for the Chargers, with Justin Herbert making a respectable showing in Week 3, completing 35-of-49 passes for 330 yards and a touchdown with an interception, his dependence on dual-threat RB Austin Ekeler obvious and exciting.

Well, in Week 3 we got to see the Tom Brady that earned him GOAT status in New England, the Bucs new QB having an easy time against the broken Broncos in Week 3, posting 25 completions for almost 300 yards and 3 touchdowns with absolutely zero interceptions, a good sign in Tampa Bay.

Plan on hearing the cannons booming at the Bucs stadium in Week 4 as the home team easily takes care of these still-developing Chargers.

Pick:

Buccaneers -7.5   (-110)

Indianapolis Colts (-2.5) vs Chicago Bears

How to watch: Sunday, Oct 4, 1:00 PM ET, CBS

It’s a good day for an NFL QB when they get to sit out the fourth quarter due to a huge lead, but that’s what Colts new leader Philip Rivers got to enjoy in Week 3 as he helped pummel the hapless Jets 36-7, with 217 passing yards and a touchdown for his new team in Indianapolis that is now 2-1 and looking to hand the Bears their first loss.

Looks like Chicago Bears have found themselves a new QB for now, backup journeyman Nick Foles, who kept the team at 3-0 against the Falcons with 3 touchdowns off 16 completions and 188 yards, not good news for a team that was counting on Mitchell Trubisky to be their main man under center for awhile.

If the Colts and their defense can limit Foles and his passing attack the way they did against the Vikings in Week 2, they could snag a Week 4 win over these questionably winless Chicago Bears.

Pick:

Colts -2.5   (-110)

Arizona Cardinals (-3.5) vs Carolina Panthers

How to watch: Sunday, Oct 4, 1:00 PM ET, FOX

Cardinals young QB Kyler Murray threw an uncharacteristic 3 interceptions in Arizona’s 3 point Week 3 loss to the Detroit Lions, though his connection with his receivers is becoming a problem for the teams they play, especially with newly acquired DeAndre Hopkins, who had 10 catches for 137 yards in that loss.

Well hello, Teddy Bridgewater, the Panthers new QB finally chalks up a Carolina win in Week 3 over the Chargers, completing 22-of-28 passes for 235 total yards and a touchdown without an interception, though the loss of dual-threat running back Christian McCaffery to an ankle injury makes a Week 4 win against these Cardinals doubtful.

The Panthers will find it too tough to outscore the Cardinals without Christian McCaffery suiting up, so take the Cards in this one and give away the points.

Pick:

Cardinals -3.5   (-110)

Pittsburgh Steelers (-1) vs Tennessee Titans

How to watch: Sunday, Oct 4, 1:00 PM ET, CBS

Big Ben Roethlisberger is gradually blowing the rust out of his carbs as the Steelers remain undefeated with him now healthy and back under center, but don’t underestimate Pittsburgh’s frightening defense, their linebacking duo of Bud Dupree and T.J. Watt making opposing QBs lives a living nightmare with 2.5 sacks between them in Week 3 alone.

QB Ryan Tannehill recorded 321 passing yards in Week 3 but without a single touchdown pass and an interception, proving that this team is fueled primarily by RB Derrick Henry, not a bad thing until a team like the Steelers neutralizes him to some degree and then it is up to the lesser passing game starring WRs Corey Davis and Kalif Raymond to step up.

If the Steelers can shut down the Titans run game (and good luck with that), they have a chance of coming out on top in this Week 4 Titans matchup that the oddsmakers are basically calling a wash.

Pick:

Steelers -1   (-110)

Odds from DraftKings. Get up to a $1,000 sign-up bonus at DraftKings today or check out more offers and promo codes for the best online sportsbooks.

Minnesota Vikings vs Houston Texans (-3.5)

How to watch: Sunday, Oct 4, 1:00 PM ET, FOX

Tough to imagine how the Vikings are still winless, especially given their QB Kirk Cousins threw three touchdown passes in Week 3, but he also tossed two interceptions, which tends to counteract other elements of their offense, like the excellent effort by Dalvin Cook who had 22 carries for 181 yards and a touchdown plus 2 catches for another 18 yards.

The Texans have faced the Chiefs, the Ravens, and the Steelers and have not been able to find a win, even with the oft-sacked QB Deshaun Watson posting 19 completions for 264 yards and 2 touchdowns, the offseason loss of star receiver DeAndre Hopkins now looking like something this team is having to seriously recover from.

One of these two winless teams will finally get their first 2020 victory, and the way Watson stays unprotected (13 sacks in 2020 so far) expect the win to go to the Vikings.

Pick:

Vikings +3.5   (-110)

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Cincinnati Bengals (-3)

How to watch: Sunday, Oct 4, 1:00 PM ET, CBS

Is he or isn’t he? Gardner Minshew may or may not be the franchise QB for the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he is their main man for now and he could not get it going in Week 3 against the Dolphins, who kept him from throwing any touchdowns and even picked him off once, that loss a big disappointment especially for Jags RB James Robinson, who posted 11 carries for 46 yards and 2 TDS plus 6 catches for 83 yards.

Get used to the headline that reads Bengals lose despite Burrows’ excellence, the rookie QB showing he is the future of the Cincinnati football franchise (especially once he gets a front line that can protect him better), leading his team to a tie in Week 3 off of 31 completions for 312 yards and 2 passing touchdowns, impressive for a first-year player especially.

Given how the Jaguars look lately, this could be the first win for Burrow and his Bengals in 2020, and that explains why for the first time this season they are favored to win.

Pick:

Bengals -3   (-110)

Baltimore Ravens (-13.5) vs Washington Football Team

How to watch: Sunday, Oct 4, 1:00 PM ET, CBS

As dominating as the Baltimore Ravens had been the first two weeks of the season, they could not outscore the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football, with Lamar Jackson showing some frustration by the fourth quarter with his inability to get his offense into the end zone but once.

The quarterback of the Washington Football Team, Dwayne Haskins, threw the ball to the opposition three times in Week 3, and after losing the turnover battle big time to the Browns, they could never recover and despite an effective pass rush that posted 2 sacks, still got the loss.

Chances are the Baltimore Ravens are going to have a couple of losses in 2020, but their second one will most likely not come from the Washington Football Team, even with the advantage of two touchdowns or so from the oddsmakers.

Pick:

Ravens -13.5   (-110)

New Orleans Saints (-4) vs Detroit Lions

How to watch: Sunday, Oct 4, 1:00 PM ET, FOX

The Saints are playing well but failing to win, which is the story of the early parts of their seasons, it would seem, but one look at dual treat RB Alvin Kamara and it would be tough to bet against his ability to run up the score, his Week 3 numbers mind-blowing, with 6 runs for 58 yards and 13 catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns on the day.

The Detroit Lions’ first win in 2020 game against the Arizona Cardinals, and it was their ability to tightly cover their receivers (they held Larry Fitzgerald to zero yards) and intercept passes (they had three of them against Kyler Murray) that helped get them the victory and will give them a (small) chance against these Saints.

Expect the Saints to find their second win of the season when the Lions face Kamara and realize there is no answer for the dual-threat playmaker whose patience and elusiveness make him almost impossible to tackle.

Pick:

Saints -4   (-110)

New York Giants vs Los Angeles Rams (-13)

How to watch: Sunday, Oct 4, 4:05 PM ET, FOX

It’s not a good sign when your star running back goes down as Saquon Barkley did, now on the IR with a knee – ACL situation, but it is even worse when afterward it’s your QB, Daniel Jones, who posts the most rushing yards in the game, a sign that backup RB Dion Lewis needs to step up.

Forget Todd Gurley, the LA Rams have found a new RB to burst out of their backfield, with Darrell Henderson having an incredible Week 3 despite the team’s loss, carrying the ball 20 times for 114 yards and a touchdown, averaging 5.7 yards per carrying.

The Rams are back and ready to compete, so they should make easy work of this damaged Giants team and cover the huge spread in Week 4.

Pick:

Rams -13   (-110)

Buffalo Bills (-3) vs Las Vegas Raiders

How to watch: Sunday, Oct 4, 1:00 PM ET, CBS

The Bills are undefeated and ruling the AFC East, with QB Josh Allen looking like he has taken that next developmental step, the third-year hurler posting an impressive 4 touchdown passes in their third victory off of 24 completions and 311 yards, though his one interception is a hint that he still has plenty of work left to do.

The Las Vegas Raiders are playing watchable football lately, and though they took their first loss in Week 3 to the Patriots, they still saw the respectable play from their QB, Derek Carr, who completed 24-of-32 for 261 yards and no interceptions, his main target being WR Hunter Renfrow, with 6 catches for 84 yards and a touchdown.

As good as the Raiders have looked on offense, it might be tough for their defense to stop Josh Allen’s Bills from outscoring them by at least a field goal, so take Buffalo and give up the points.

Pick:

Bills -3   (-110)

New England Patriots vs Kansas City Chiefs (-6.5)

How to watch: Sunday, Oct 4, 1:00 PM ET, CBS

The New England Patriots and HC Bill Belichick were happy to get a Week 3 win with a powerful and effective rushing attack that did not rely solely on QB Cam Newton but was led by RB Sony Michel, who had 9 carries for 117 yards, while his backfield compatriot, Rex Burkhead, added 6 carries for 49 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Anyone who dared doubt the effectiveness of Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes offense (or the team’s defense for that matter) most likely feel different after seeing them make the Baltimore Ravens look somewhat helpless on Monday night, coach Andy Reid solidifying himself as a guru play-caller during that win.

As powerful a duo as Newton and Belichick have been so far, they won’t be able to stop Mahomes and his offense, especially if DE Frank Clark and that defense keeps showing up.

Pick:

Chiefs -6.5   (-110)

Odds from DraftKings. Get up to a $1,000 sign-up bonus at DraftKings today or check out more offers and promo codes for the best online sportsbooks.

Philadelphia Eagles vs San Francisco 49ers (-6.5)

How to watch: SNF, Sunday, Oct 4, 7:20 PM ET, NBC

The Eagles started out slow in Week 3 and then ended up in a tie with the struggling Bengals, something that could be blamed on QB Carson Wentz’ two interceptions, though a good sign for their rushing attack is seeing RB Miles Sanders posting 18 carries for 95 yards in that one.

The entire football world wanted to count out the heavily damaged San Francisco 49ers in Week 3, but under backup QB Nick Mullens and with the help of a whole lot of other “next man ups,” the 49ers looked solid as they took apart the Giants, keeping them to just 3 field goals the entire game.

The 49ers might be banged up, but so are the Giants, and without Barkley running the ball out of the backfield, they have little chance of outscoring these San Francisco battlers.

Pick:

49ers -6.5   (-110)

Odds from DraftKings. Get up to a $1,000 sign-up bonus at DraftKings today or check out more offers and promo codes for the best online sportsbooks.

Atlanta Falcons vs Green Bay Packers (-7)

How to watch: MNF, Monday, Oct 5, 8:15 PM ET, ESPN

It will be exciting to see how the Atlanta Falcons plan on losing their early lead against the Green Bay Packers in this Week 4 Monday Night Football matchup, the Falcons seeming to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory too often given the amount of talent on that roster, with new RB Todd Gurley averaging 5.7 yards per carrying in that third loss.

The Green Bay Packers already look ready for the Super Bowl, with head coach Matt LaFleur and QB Aaron Rodgers now on the same page offensively, their win over the Saints looking impressive on Rodgers 21 completions for 283 yards and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions, and RB Aaron Jones becoming more and more of an unstoppable factor.

The Packers should have no trouble giving the Falcons their fourth loss of the season, and it will put Atlanta head coach Dan Quinn even further on the hot season.

Packers -7   (-110)
