DraftKings to Consolidate Platforms Into One Mobile App
DraftKings announced an exciting upgrade coming to its mobile app.
The operator announced plans to consolidate all its platforms into a single new “super app.” This would allow bettors to access the sportsbook, casino, lottery games, and its newly launched prediction platform. However, the availability of each offering will depend on where you are located when accessing the new app.
In states where sports betting remains illegal, DraftKings Prediction will be available through the app.
States without a legal online casino market will have access to DraftKings lottery games, where available.
“[There are] so many apps now, and it’s confusing for customers.” DraftKings CEO Jason Robins told investors during an investor event, “Now we’re saying you download the same app, and if you’re in a state that does not have online sports betting, you’ll see predictions, and if you’re a state that has online sports but you’ll see the sportsbook product, and we’re going to sort it out for them on the back end, versus making them go and navigate between a bunch of different apps.”
The news helped DraftKings see a slight uptick in its stock price, which has been in decline over the last two years. While expectations for 2026 were lowered, the operator is hoping it will help the new prediction platform overdeliver.
Focus on Prediction Growth
At the center of DraftKings’ decision to create a “super app” was its new prediction platform. While DraftKings Sportsbook remains one of the biggest names in gambling, the new prediction platform is still working to gain the same notoriety. It has its own app, which sportsbook customers currently need to download separately when in states where the industry remains illegal.
The operator hopes the unified app will encourage existing sportsbook customers to try their hand at sports prediction markets. Many bettors have hesitated to switch, feeling far more comfortable with traditional sportsbooks.
We have plenty of data showing a large amount of sportsbook location checks in states without legal markets. Currently, DraftKings bettors can view the sportsbook's odds and withdraw funds, but cannot make deposits or place wagers. Once the new “super app” goes live, those bettors will be funneled toward the prediction platforms, giving them an easy alternative for betting on sports.
