However, when DraftKings acquired SBTech, they came to an agreement with the Oregon Lottery and took over as the sole statewide online sportsbook. BetMGM is available exclusively at Spirit Mountain Casino but not anywhere else in the state. Because of DraftKings’ monopoly over statewide sports betting, there haven't been any new sportsbooks.

How To Sign Up With a Brand New Sportsbooks

Creating your account at an online sportsbook is pretty straightforward, so you can quickly start betting. Usually, the process is relatively similar across sportsbooks. Here is a step-by-step guide so that you’re aware of how to set up your account:

  1. Register your account.

After choosing your preferred sportsbook, find and click the “Sign-Up”, “Register”, or “Join Now” button on the homepage. You might have to select your state first to confirm that you’re in a legal location. Next, you’ll be directed to a registration form where you’ll input basic personal details like your email and full name and create a password for your account

  1. Complete verification checks

Verification checks are generally mandatory for US sportsbooks before you can fully use the platform. Following your registration, you might be asked for phone or email verification. Additionally, you might need to provide a form of ID like your passport or driver’s license, birthdate to confirm you’re of eligible age, full address to verify you are in a legal state, and the last four digits of your SNN.

  1. Deposit funds.

Once you’ve set up your account, the next step is to deposit to claim your welcome bonus and start placing bets. It’s usually a similar process at different sportsbooks. Typically, you’ll find a button like “Deposit” or “Add Funds” on the menu. Once you click it, you’ll be given payment options such as debit/credit cards, e-wallets, or bank transfers. Simply choose your preferred method, enter your deposit amount, and complete the necessary details. Deposits are usually processed instantly, so you can start betting right away.

  1. Claim your sign up bonus.

This is the best part of being a new bettor! Most sportsbooks will offer a welcome bonus for those new to their platform. I find that it’s a fantastic way to explore how betting works on the platform and the different markets. Welcome bonuses for sportsbooks typically include bonus bets, insurance bets, or deposit matches. They tend to be the biggest bonuses available to incentivize bettors to join the platform.

When you sign up for a sportsbook, make sure to use our promo codes. Some platforms don’t require a promo code, and you just have to make a deposit. If you have issues finding the welcome bonus, check the promotions page and the terms and conditions. In this, you’ll find detailed information about the promotion and any other stipulations. We also explain exactly how to go about claiming a welcome bonus in every single one of our sportsbook reviews.

  1. Gamble Responsibly

Finally, I want to emphasize the importance of gambling responsibly. Betting can be thrilling, and it can be easy to get swept up in the excitement, but you should remember that it should be viewed as entertainment and not a means of making money. I recommend setting a weekly or monthly budget to help control your betting activities. If you have any issues, most online sportsbooks have a dedicated responsible gambling section where you can find useful resources.

You can also head to our dedicated Responsible Gambling section at WSN. We go deep on why it’s important to play responsibly, what that looks like across different types of gambling, and where you can find help and support in your area now.

Are there Advantages to Trying a New Sportsbook Site?

Joining new betting sites can have several advantages for your betting experience. Let’s explore the main benefits:

Welcome Bonuses

The best part of joining an online sportsbook is taking advantage of the welcome bonus. They tend to be the most generous promotion a sportsbook offers, designed to attract bettors to their site. For new bettors, this is a great way to maximize your first deposit, extending your bankroll and giving you more chances to win.

Additionally, you’re given the opportunity to explore and familiarize yourself with the betting options available, without breaking the bank off the bat. Typical welcome bonuses for online sportsbooks include bonus bets, second chance offers, or deposit matches.

Innovative & Modern Features

Brand new betting sites will tend to use more modern technology so that users will have a more slick and streamlined betting experience. Think things like faster loading times, smoother navigation, and a more contemporary design. You might also find innovative features as they strive to set themselves apart from other sportsbooks, such as unique tools, better live betting and streaming, and further personalization. Additionally, they’re more likely to have more modern payment options like e-wallets or cryptocurrencies, which older sites might not support.

Refresh Your Betting Experience

After a while, it can become boring to continually use the same platform. Exploring a new sportsbook can refresh your betting experience, as you’re trying out a different design, features, and betting markets. By testing out a new sportsbook, you might discover other sports, types of bets, or better odds that you won’t find by sticking to the same sportsbook.

Mobile Optimization

New sportsbooks are more likely to concentrate on offering a high-quality mobile experience as they recognize the growing popularity of users preferring to place bets on their phones. Their platforms are typically optimized for mobile use through dedicated apps so bettors can effortlessly place their wagers anywhere and anytime. Some new sportsbooks are even exclusively available through mobile apps and don’t offer a website version.

Our Best Tips For Playing on New Betting Sites

Betting on a new sportsbook can be overwhelming at first, and it can take some time to become familiar with the platform. I’ve listed a few helpful tips to keep in mind when navigating a new sportsbook so that you can make the most of your fresh betting experience.

Research

Start off with a bit of research and reading reviews. Before settling on any online sportsbook, it’s important to know that it’s worth your time and trust. Remember to always check that the sportsbook is legally operating in your state. Finding detailed and authentic reviews can be challenging, but at WSN, we simplify your search.

Rather than endlessly browsing online, you can visit our site for comprehensive betting information and up-to-date reviews of the best sites in the US. It’s crucial to assess whether the sportsbook aligns with your needs by looking at all the features like promotions, deposits and withdrawals, markets, and more. We explore this all in our reviews so you have a well-rounded idea of what to expect before signing up for a sportsbook.

Bankroll Management

Effectively managing your bankroll is essential in sports betting. When it comes to betting, there are no guarantees on outcomes and even the best-informed bets can lose. Therefore, you must be financially prepared for these scenarios. Before placing any bets, it’s wise to set a clear budget to avoid going over your means. Your bet sizes should also reflect your bankroll. As a rule of thumb, you should only bet what you can afford to lose and don’t chase losses.

Shopping for Best Odds

Odds differ from one sportsbook to another. Bettors can benefit from comparing odds across several platforms to find the most favorable ones for their bets and potentially increase their earnings. Before signing up for a new site, it’s worth looking at odds comparison tools to see which sportsbooks offer the best lines on your preferred events.

Exploring the Sportsbook

Jumping straight into betting at a new site can seem tempting, but I’d recommend exploring how the sportsbook works. Firstly, familiarize yourself with the platform’s layout, depositing into your account, claiming your welcome promotion, and the markets. Take the time to understand the betting options before you commit any money. Some sportsbooks will have guides on this, which can be helpful for new bettors.

Are New Betting Sites Safe?

Bettors should be aware that there are new online sportsbooks out there that aren’t safe to use. Betting involves real-money transactions and sharing your personal data, so you must choose a platform that is safe and reliable.

When joining a new betting site, the first indication that it is trustworthy is if they’re licensed and regulated by your state’s gambling authority. You should avoid any sportsbooks that aren’t legal in your state, as you won’t have any protection.

It is also important to look at the security measures like SSL encryption, data privacy policies, and anti-fraud tools. Checking reviews is worthwhile to see if the platform has positive feedback from other bettors.

All the betting sites we recommend at WSN are legitimate and safe choices, but this is not true for all review sites. Be careful, and only choose trusted, secure and licensed new sportsbooks.

How We Rate New Betting Sites in the US?

Our method for finding the best new betting sites is based on our hands-on experience. We personally assess each platform from the perspective of a regular user, creating original and thorough content that comprehensively assesses its strengths and weaknesses. We dedicate a full week to evaluating each sportsbook, spending at least ten hours testing the following features:

  1. User Experience: We start by immersing ourselves in the sportsbook, examining its design, organization, and functionality. We ask ourselves: How intuitive is the platform? Is it better for experienced or new bettors? Is it visually pleasing? We also check how the platform performs across different devices, including desktops, mobile browsers, and apps, to ensure a smooth and user-friendly experience regardless of how you access it.

  2. Bets and Features: We assess the variety and depth of sports and betting markets available. We love when there is a selection of both popular and niche options. We also explore features like live betting and streaming, early cash-out, DFS, picking services, or other unique tools. New sportsbooks often launch with some novel or unique features to differentiate themselves, and we’re here for it.

  3. Promos and Bonuses: We actively participate in all available promotions, including welcome bonuses, ongoing offers, and loyalty programs. Testing these out lets us see if the promotions add value to your betting experience. We also thoroughly review the terms and conditions to ensure they’re fair and straightforward.

  4. Banking: We make real money transactions to test the deposit and withdrawal methods. We look at the range of payment methods, the speed of transitions, and overall convenience. We understand the frustration of being unable to deposit into your account or receive withdrawals.

  5. Customer Support: We interact with customer service through all channels, such as live chat, email, and phone. We assess the waiting time and helpfulness of their responses. We also look at the FAQ section to see how useful it is.

After our reviews are published, our post-publication editors commit five hours each month to update the content, ensuring it remains current and reflects any changes.

At WSN, our dedication to being a reliable and authentic source for bettors is what sets us apart. When writing reviews, we put in the time and effort to explore each betting site. We evaluate every aspect firsthand, including promotions, banking, markets, and more. This hands-on approach allows us to produce content that is genuine and well-researched. Gamble Responsibly

Gambling has the risk of addiction and can lead to significant issues if not approached in a responsible manner. That’s why it is essential to be cautious when betting online. Prior to placing any bets, establish a clear budget and stick to it. Avoid betting more than you planned in an attempt to chase losses. For those feeling like their gambling is getting out of hand, it’s important to take the steps to feel in control again. Many online sportsbooks offer tools like self-exclusion options, session alerts, betting and deposit limits, and break periods to help manage your betting habits. If you’re concerned about your betting behavior, there are several resources available for support:

  • The National Council on Problem Gambling is accessible across the US. They provide assistance through phone at 1-800-GAMBLER, texting 800GAM, or live chat.

  • Gamblers Anonymous hosts meetings nationwide where individuals can connect and share their experiences.

  • Most states have their specific organizations dedicated to helping those with gambling issues, offering local support and guidance.

Furthermore, you can check out our full Responsible Gambling section to learn more about how to stay safe while you play.
