Polymarket Announces Plans to Offer Live Sports Streaming

Polymarket is about to bring sports prediction markets into a new frontier.

The operator has agreed to a deal with Genius Sports in order to begin offering live streaming for its sports markets. Genius offers similar services for some of the country’s largest sportsbooks, including DraftKings and FanDuel. Polymarket will be its first prediction market partner.

"Trust, transparency and innovation are fundamental to the long-term development of sports prediction markets," said Polymarket President of Sports Business Development Ari Borod in a press release. “President of Sports Business Development at Polymarket. "Live streaming, official data and integrity infrastructure play an important role in establishing an engaging product that customers can depend on. Our partnership with Genius Sports gives professional leagues direct visibility into prediction market activity around their competitions and reflects the standard we hold across every official league relationship we build."

Currently, live streaming of events is only offered by sportsbooks. By partnering with Genius, Polymarket will negate a significant advantage the regulated sports betting industry had over prediction markets.

The deal will take effect immediately, meaning eligible US Polymarket users will soon have live streaming options available.

A Huge Win for Polymarket

While Polymarket has spared no expense advertising itself in the US, it continues to see a fraction of the volume from sports markets that Kalshi does. A later launch can explain some of that, but the industry’s ever-shifting landscape is making it difficult to catch up.

By launching live streaming for sports, Polymarket will gain a significant edge over rivals like Kalshi.

To show the importance of live streaming, we look to Colorado’s sports betting market. Throughout the year, table tennis is among the top four most common sports to bet on. Despite it not being as popular as a pro sport in the US, the ability to live stream games from around the world allows bettors to get in on the action, regardless of the time.

Polymarket hopes its new feature will win over many of those bettors, helping to even the field with Kalshi.
