Friday evening will see Tijuana travel to Estadio El Encanto to take on Mazatlan. Both sides are chasing down Santos for the final play in round spot in the 2024 Clausura. Their previous seven head-to-head encounters, Mazatlan possess the slight edge winning three times and splitting the points twice.

Round 12 was one to forget and put in the rearview mirror for Mazatlan. Their trip to Estadio Universitario was a nightmare, getting thumped 5-1 to Tigres. For the Cañoneros, they have suffered back-to-back defeats sliding them down to 15th place. In their last two matches, the club has had subpar defending, conceding seven goals.

Meanwhile, Tijuana keeps on collecting results, extending their unbeaten run to four matches drawing Santos 2-2 last weekend. Currently they are still the only club in the Clausura without a victory, this a side that has only suffered four defeats through 12 matches.

Here, we will break down the betting odds and share our favourite picks for Mazatlan vs. Tijuana

Mazatlan vs. Tijuana Prediction

Mazatlan vs. Tijuana Betting Prediction

Mazatlan

On attack, Mazatlan is peppering the opposition goalkeeper, ranking second in the Clausura averaging 5.4 shots on target per match. Despite all the odds against them last weekend in a hostile environment on the road, the Cañoneros still managed to fire away a total of 21 shots towards the target. After two straight away trips, the club returns to home where through eight matches they are averaging 1.6 goals per game.

The most in-form player currently on Mazatlan is Luis Amarilla. The 28-year-old has found the score sheet in his last two appearances, bringing his Clausura total to six. In 819 minutes of action, the Paraguayan has registered a total of 20 shots, with six hitting the target.

Tijuana

Despite only bagging 14 goals through 12 matches, The Xolos in 2024 have been able to breach past the keeper in 67 percent of their matches. Away from home, Tijuana is putting up better numbers recording eight goals in six away contests. In a four-way tie at the bottom of the competition for pitching a shutout, Tijuana has only managed to tally one clean sheet.

The center of attention up top will be Christian Rivera, who is currently performing at a phenomenal pace. In his last three appearances, the 28-year-old has bagged five goals including a hat trick all scored from the penalty spot on March 10th. His most recent outing saw him play in all 90 minutes, calculated four shots towards the net and finished with an 84 percent passing percentage going 38-for-45.

Mazatlan vs. Tijuana - My Pick

Currently, the Liga MX average for both teams to score is sitting at 59 percent. The two clubs in this clash are exceeding the competition's average, making it exceptionally appetizing to wager on both clubs finding the score sheet.

Mazatlan in 12 games they have participated in, nine of them saw both teams capturing a goal a piece. More recently for the Cañoneros, both teams to score market has hit in five of the last six. In Mazatlan's last four home matches, they have avoided being shut out.

On the other hand, Tijuana is in a similar situation putting up solid numbers in both teams to score category. In 67 percent of their matches played, each side bagged a goal. Though Tijuana is on the road, they should be able to break through in this matchup registering six goals in their last three away trips in domestic play.
