NBA Playoffs Player Props and Best Bets: Tyrese Maxey, Deni Avdija & More Picks for Sunday, April 19
After starting the NBA playoffs by going 4-1 with my favorite player props, I’m back to share my top picks for the Sunday games.
Donovan Mitchell continues his career trend of playing excellent Game 1’s, scoring 32 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers cruised past the Toronto Raptors. LeBron James also took control with 19 points, 13 assists, and eight rebounds as the short-handed Los Angeles Lakers won Game 1 against the Kevin Durant-less Houston Rockets.
Four other series will play their opening gambit today, starting with the Philadelphia 76ers against the Boston Celtics and concluding with the Portland Trail Blazers facing the San Antonio Spurs.
Let’s jump into my top NBA Playoff player prop picks and bets for Sunday, April 19.

Tyrese Maxey over 26.5 points (-102) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Maxey is likely to draw Derrick White as his primary assignment, and while White is a willing defender who does great work from the help side, he’s not an elite one-on-one defender. Maxey has proven that he can beat the Boston defenders, scoring 33, 21, 26, and 40 points in their four matchups this season.
Joel Embiid is expected to be out as he continues to recover from appendicitis, meaning that Maxey will be the out-and-out leader for his team. He scored 31 points in the Play-In Tournament on Wednesday, while the C’s were only 23rd in made threes allowed per game.

Jalen Green under 18.5 points (-128) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Green scored 8 or fewer points in four of five matchups with the Oklahoma City Thunder last year when he was with the Houston Rockets. He didn’t see them after being traded to the Phoenix Suns, but it’s reasonable to expect a level of regression.
The 24-year-old was outstanding in the Play-In, scoring 35 and 36 points in two games against the Trail Blazers and Golden State Warriors. However, he only averaged 17.8 points per game and has never been an efficient shooter, and he’s now about to take on one of the best defenses in the sport.

Desmond Bane under 1.5 threes (+138) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Bane seemed to be exactly what the Orlando Magic needed to take the next step when he arrived in the offseason, but for whatever reason, the team hasn’t fully gelled with him in the offense. As evidence of that, he only made 2.0 threes on 5.2 attempts per game, both the lowest since his rookie season.
The 27-year-old also went under in three of four regular-season meetings with the Detroit Pistons, who were in the top 10 for fewest triples allowed. Bane and the Magic are going on the road after playing two Play-In games, while the Pistons have been resting for a week and will have much more energy.

Deni Avdija over 6.5 assists (-114) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Avdija was excellent against the Spurs during the regular season, going over in two of three matchups while averaging 31.7 points, 8.0 assists, and 7.3 rebounds. He also had 10 and 12 assists in his last two games and went over in five of his last seven outings.
The Spurs were a little above league-average at 12th in assists allowed during the regular season. However, Avdija is playing at a high level and hasn’t minded San Antonio’s intense defense, not to mention that the Trail Blazers have looked like a cohesive outfit for more than a month.

Dylan Harper over 2.5 rebounds (+102) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Harper averaged 3.4 rebounds per game and went over in five straight to close the regular season. He also cashed the over in all three matchups with the Trail Blazers, who like to speed up the game and create extra possessions, therefore creating more possible rebounds.
Teams’ rotations typically shorten during the playoffs, but Harper should still see about 20 minutes per game off the bench. The Spurs have no reason to play their stars heavy minutes this early in the playoffs, and Harper gives them much-needed energy in the reserves.
