NBA Player Props and Best Bets: Victor Wembanyama, Joel Embiid & More Picks for NBA Playoffs on Monday
The NBA Playoffs are turning the page on the opening round and transitioning to the conference semifinals on Monday, and I have my best player prop picks for today.
Ade Cunningham dropped 32 points and 12 assists to lead the Detroit Pistons back from a 3-1 deficit against the Orlando Magic, booking them a spot in the second round. Jarrett Allen also posted a mammoth 22 points and 19 rebounds in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Game 7 victory over the Toronto Raptors, setting up a date with the aforementioned Pistons.
Monday’s events will see the New York Knicks welcome the Philadelphia 76ers for Game 1, before the San Antonio Spurs begin their series with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Here are my top NBA Playoffs player prop picks and bets for Monday, May 4.

Joel Embiid Under 8.5 Rebounds (-104) at FanDuel Sportsbook
There are compelling cases on both sides of this line. On one hand, Embiid cashed the over in three of four games in the previous series and also went over in both regular-season matchups with the Knicks, but on the other, he only averaged 7.7 rebounds per game and likely won’t play as many minutes as he did in the first round against the Boston Celtics.
The playoffs are a marathon, and Embiid was hobbled by several collisions to his knee in Game 7 on Saturday. I expect him to be around 33-35 minutes of action in Game 1, knowing that three series are still ahead if Philly wants to win the championship, plus, the Knicks allowed the fewest rebounds per game in the entire playoffs.

Jalen Brunson Under 27.5 Points (-114) at FanDuel Sportsbook
If I’m Nick Nurse, I’m telling Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe to involve Brunson in as many actions as possible. Take advantage of his smaller frame, force him to exert energy on the defensive end, and physically overwhelm him, hoping that will translate to him having less energy on offense.
As the hours count down until tip-off in the series, an interesting tidbit is that Edgecombe was arguably the most successful one-on-one defender in the league when it came to dealing with Brunson. The 29-year-old split the over/under in the last series, and I’d look for him to start the new series by going under.

VJ Edgecombe Under 1.5 Threes (+142) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Edgecombe split the over/under in four matchups with the Knicks, but he went under in both games with Embiid on the floor. He also has strong variance in his three-point shooting against Boston, going under in four of seven and taking anywhere from four to 11 threes in a game.
As I mentioned above, I expect Edgecombe’s primary impact to come on the defensive end as he looks to slow down Brunson. The Knicks also have long wings who can close space and contest shots that teams couldn’t, which would make driving the ball a more enticing option than taking threes.

Victor Wembanyama Under 11.5 Rebounds (-118) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Rudy Gobert recently completed one of the most impressive series of his career against the Denver Nuggets, during which he did an excellent job on Nikola Jokic. He now gets to match up with his countryman, against whom he held under this line in six of their eight encounters.
Wemby had 12 and 14 rebounds in his last two games against the Portland Trail Blazers, but he also had seven and nine rebounds in his two matchups with the Timberwolves. Minnesota’s critical players, in light of injuries, are all bigs or are willing to play in the paint and compete on the glass, and I expect their sense of desperation to carry over to Wembanyama going under this number.

Jaden McDaniels Over 2.5 Assists (-114) at FanDuel Sportsbook
I don’t expect Anthony Edwards to be available, which would mean that McDaniels would take on a leading role in the offense. He’s far from a natural-born playmaker, but he did have exactly three assists in five of six games against the Nuggets in the first round.
While the Spurs are a terrific defensive team, they were only 12th in assists allowed per game during the regular season. They also like to play with pace, which in-turn creates more possessions and more opportunities for players such as McDaniels to add to their box score.
