Today brings the last two ties in the round of 16, and we have picked out some FIFA World Cup props to take a look at on Day 27 of the tournament. Argentina, the reigning world champion, is one of four teams aiming to reach the quarter-finals on Tuesday in North America.

A prop bet is a bet on a specific statistic, player performance, or in-game event rather than the final score. Here are our suggested World Cup player props and team selections for the World Cup soccer taking place today.

Spain vs. Belgium Prop Bets

Spain has not set the World Cup alight just yet, but it will be pleased with its progress over the last few weeks. Its campaign began with a disappointing goalless draw with Cape Verde, but Spain recovered to beat Saudi Arabia and Uruguay, claiming top spot in its group in the process. It then defeated Austria 3-0 in the round of 32, before beating its neighbor Portugal 1-0 last time out.

Belgium took a while to get going this summer, tying its first two matches against Egypt and Iran despite being widely expected to win both in most expert World Cup predictions. It wrapped up top spot in its group by thumping New Zealand 5-1, then mounted a sensational comeback to beat Senegal 3-2 having been 2-0 down in the closing stages. In the round of 16, Belgium was too good for the USA, triumphing 4-1 in Seattle.

Spain to Score First ($0.69) at Kalshi

Spain drew a blank on matchday one in that tie with Cape Verde, a match which served as a useful reminder that a goalless soccer match can still be filled with drama and intrigue. The only positive for Spain on that occasion was that it did not concede a goal. Four games later, its backline has still not been breached at this World Cup.

Including its final match of the 2022 edition, Spain has now kept six consecutive clean sheets at the World Cup, becoming the first team to reach that milestone. As a result, it has scored the first goal in each of those four contests post-Cape Verde.

Against Saudi Arabia it went 1-0 up in the 10th minute; against Portugal, it broke the deadlock in second-half stoppage time. Yet no matter the exact timing, Spain has scored before its opponent in four consecutive fixtures. That will give it considerable confidence going into this clash with Belgium to determine the second semi-finalist at World Cup 2026.

The Red Devils were quick out of the blocks against the USA, but that has not been the case all tournament. It fell behind to Egypt on matchday one despite being the strong favorite to win that game, while it also went 2-0 down to Senegal in the round of 32. Select Spain to score first at $0.69 at Kalshi.

Both Teams to Score: No ($0.48) at Kalshi

The next pick from our daily World Cup team props concerns the popular ‘Both Teams to Score’ market. ‘Yes’ is seen as marginally the more likely outcome in this binary choice for Spain vs Belgium, but we recommend choosing ‘no’ for the second quarter-final of this year’s tournament.

As we mentioned above, Spain possesses a formidable defensive record. There are unconventional reasons for that. Spain’s principal method of keeping the ball out of its own net is by dominating possession and controlling territory. Essentially, Spain aims to keep the ball as far away from its goal as possible.

It was a tactic which brought La Roja great success a decade and a half ago, as Spain won two European Championships and a World Cup between 2008 and 2010. Famously, that side did not concede a single goal in any of its 10 knockout matches across those three competitions. We are seeing something similar so far this summer, albeit not quite to the same extent.

Belgium has scored in four of its five games. It put five goals past New Zealand, four goals past the USA, and three goals past Senegal, albeit after extra time. But its three best attackers, Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku and Romelu Lukaku, were on the bench against the USA. Tip both teams not to score at $0.48 with Kalshi.

Dani Olmo to Score or Assist ($0.54) at Kalshi

Given he is a midfield player by trade, Mikel Merino has an impressive proficiency for getting himself into goalscoring positions. He has scored some important goals for Arsenal and Spain over the last couple of years, the most recent of which was the winner against Portugal in the round of 16.

Despite that, Merino is set to begin today’s game against Belgium on the bench. Dani Olmo will keep his starting place in the No.10 role - and he deserves to as well. Olmo offers more than Merino in general play. He knits this Spain team together, linking the midfield with the offensive line. Olmo is therefore at the center of our suggested soccer player props odds for this encounter.

Lamine Yamal and Mikel Oyarzabal are the likeliest Spanish players to have a direct hand in a goal - most likely by scoring it - but Olmo is one of the chief creators in Luis de la Fuente’s side and he has a decent goal record himself, including three strikes during Spain’s triumphant Euro 2024 campaign.

The Barcelona attacking midfielder will be a thorn in Belgium’s side today, and we expect him to have a tangible impact on the match. Go for Dani Olmo to score a goal or provide an assist, a prediction which costs $0.53 on Kalshi.
