Best MLB Bets Today 2026 05 23

Mets vs. Marlins - Freddy Peralta vs. Max Meyer (4:10 PM EST)

The Mets continue to rely heavily on pitching and timely hitting, while Miami has quietly played much more competitive baseball behind a young rotation that continues to develop. This matchup has all the ingredients for a low-scoring start.

Under 0.5 Run (-130) at Caesars Sportsbook

Freddy Peralta has been dependable at the top of the Mets rotation, posting a 3.31 ERA with a 1.25 WHIP across 54.1 innings this season.

He has allowed only 43 hits while striking out 54 batters, consistently using his swing-and-miss stuff to escape trouble before innings can spiral.

Miami counters with Max Meyer, who has emerged as one of the breakout pitchers in the National League. Meyer enters this matchup undefeated at 4-0 with a 2.85 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP through 53.2 innings.

He has surrendered just 41 hits while piling up 60 strikeouts, showing excellent command and the ability to dominate lineups early in games.

With both starters missing bats consistently and limiting hard contact, this matchup points toward another scoreless first inning.

Guardians vs. Phillies - Slade Cecconi vs. Zack Wheeler (4:05 PM EST)

Philadelphia continues to look like one of the most complete teams in baseball, especially at home, while Cleveland’s offense has struggled at times against elite frontline pitching. The Phillies have a major edge on the mound entering this matchup.

Under 0.5 Run (-155) at Caesars Sportsbook

Slade Cecconi has had an inconsistent season overall, but he still possesses enough strikeout ability to navigate the first inning effectively. He owns a 5.16 ERA with 42 strikeouts across 52.1 innings.

Cecconi has shown flashes of solid command when attacking hitters aggressively early in outings, giving Cleveland a chance to settle into the game defensively.

Philadelphia counters with Zack Wheeler, who has been dominant once again this season. Wheeler enters with a stellar 1.99 ERA and an elite 0.88 WHIP through 31.2 innings.

He has allowed only 21 hits all season while striking out 30 batters and surrendering just one home run, making him one of the toughest pitchers in baseball to score against early.

With Wheeler capable of shutting down any lineup and Cecconi likely focused on avoiding early damage, this game profiles well for a clean opening inning.

Pirates vs. Blue Jays - Paul Skenes vs. Patrick Corbin (3:07 PM EST)

Pittsburgh continues to build confidence behind one of the best young rotations in baseball. Toronto is off to a slow start, but looking to climb back into the playoff race.

Under 0.5 Run (-140) at Caesars Sportsbook

Paul Skenes has looked every bit like an ace for Pittsburgh, carrying a 2.62 ERA and an incredible 0.71 WHIP through 55 innings.

He has allowed only 31 hits while striking out 63 batters, consistently overpowering hitters with elite velocity and command from the opening pitch.

Toronto turns to Patrick Corbin, who has been far more effective than expected in stretches this season despite a higher ERA. Corbin owns a 4.23 ERA across 38.1 innings while showing the ability to generate soft contact early in games.

Although he has allowed 44 hits this season, Toronto’s veteran left-hander has enough experience to navigate the top of Pittsburgh’s lineup the first time through.

With Skenes expected to dominate and Corbin likely pitching carefully in the opening frame, this matchup sets up well for another NRFI opportunity.

Best YRFI Bets

  • Rockies vs. Diamondbacks - Michael Lorenzen vs. Zac Gallen: Michael Lorenzen has struggled at times against explosive lineups, and the Diamondbacks are more than capable of applying immediate pressure at home. On the other side, Zac Gallen has not looked as dominant as previous seasons, which gives Colorado an opportunity to generate early offense of its own.
