Bet365 Sportsbook Officially Launches in Washington, D.C.

Bet365 continues its expansion across the US this week.

The operator launched its online sportsbook in the Washington, D.C., sports betting market this week. Bet365 gained market access after partnering with Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which owns the Washington Capitals, Washington Wizards, and Washington Mystics. The sportsbook is now an official sports betting sponsor for all three teams.

“Bringing bet365 to our nation’s capital expands our reach in the U.S. and establishes our presence in one of the country’s most dynamic sports markets,” bet365 Head of Development Trip Stoddard shared in a press release. “Our partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment gives us an exciting opportunity to introduce bet365 to Capitals, Wizards and Mystics fans and build lasting connections across Washington, D.C.”

The sportsbook is celebrating its debut in the nation’s capital by giving new players $50 in bonus bets after an initial wager of $10. They’ll also be able to take advantage of the Early Payout Promotion, which automatically pays out wagers before certain events end. 

The launch means that bet365 Sportsbooks is now live in 19 US markets.

DC Continues Upgrading Its Market

Just over two years ago, Washington, D.C., was home to only one online sportsbook in GamebetDC. The sportsbook operated as a monopoly in partnership with the DC Lottery, but bettors panned the platform, leading to disappointing revenue numbers.

This changed in April 2024 when local lawmakers decided to have FanDuel Sportsbook take over the sports betting monopoly. It led to immediate success and prompted the district to expand the market again just a few months later. Despite threatening to exit the market over the expansion, FanDuel has remained as the market continues to grow.
