BetMGM Announces New Updates For Its Online Sportsbook
BetMGM Sportsbook is getting a significant upgrade ahead of the busiest betting season of the year.
The operator has announced changes to better compete across the industry. It will include faster performance and new tools for bettors. The upgrade will also provide bettors with more stats to help them better research wagers before placing them.
One of the key features BetMGM is promoting is called “My Bets,” and it will allow bettors to easily view and manage their open bets directly from the home screen. This makes it easier to manage wagers, which can be crucial when live-betting or looking to cash out early.
Live betting remains popular among bettors in the US, leading the operator to focus on making the process faster and simpler.
“BetMGM puts customers first, responding to players' feedback and investing in user experiences to exceed expectations." BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt shared in a press release. "Leveraging our powerful in-house technology, we developed a more seamless, intuitive, and integrated product. The BetMGM sports betting app is the perfect companion for the upcoming football season, whether fans are enjoying the action in Vegas or at home.”
While BetMGM remains a major player in the US online sports betting industry, it has begun to lose market share to Fanatics in several markets. By upgrading its platform, the Las Vegas operator hopes to better compete with the emerging rival, as well as the rest of the hyper-competitive industry.
MGM Goes Against the Grain
The upgrade of the BetMGM Sportsbook platform comes at a time when many rivals invest in prediction markets. DraftKings, Fanatics, and FanDuel have all launched platforms, while operators like bet365 and BetRivers appear to be pursuing their own.
Prediction market platforms are not considered a form of gambling under federal law, allowing them to circumvent state laws and taxes in the industry. As a result, they have lower operating costs, making them an appealing alternative to regulated sports betting.
While the growing industry continues to see an uptick in volume, it is also facing a mountain of lawsuits, as most US states remain wary of prediction markets.
While BetMGM’s leadership hasn’t ruled out pursuing its own prediction platform, it appears to be keeping its focus on sports betting for now.
