DraftKings Announces New Advertising Partnership with NBC
DraftKings Sportsbook scored a significant victory over its rivals today.
The sports betting giant has announced a new partnership with NBC Universal. The deal will grant DragtKings exclusive advertising rights on NBC Sports coverage, with an estimated value of around $500 million.
“We are proud to join forces with NBCUniversal, an iconic name in sports entertainment, in a landmark multi-year agreement that brings together two industry leaders,” said Stephanie Sherman, chief marketing officer at DraftKings. “Our presence throughout NBCUniversal’s sports ecosystem will not only engage fans in powerful new ways but also augment our industry-leading live betting capabilities.
NBC is home to some of the country’s biggest sports events, including those from the following leagues:
NFL
NBA
MLB
NCAA basketball & football
MLS & International soccer leagues
The deal was completed in time to allow DraftKings to advertise before Super Bowl LX. The NFL’s championship game is one of the most wagered on events in the US. Prop bet markets are especially busy, with wagers available on various events, including the length of the National Anthem, a Coin Flip, and more.
DraftKings is the first US sportsbook to partner with one of the country’s major networks, setting a new standard for the industry.
What About Prediction Markets?
While the partnership between NBC and DraftKings is focused on sports betting, that may not last long. DraftKings is continuing to push to enter the emerging prediction market industry.
Kalshi, which is the top sports prediction market operator, has seen its volume spike this NFL season. While concerns over pricing remain, that hasn’t stopped bettors from switching to the controversial platforms.
Kalshi’s success will only put pressure on DraftKings to enter the industry. Once they do, they’ll likely want to promote it through their partnership with NBC. It would give them more exposure than Kalshi or other operators, and help them gain an edge over FanDuel, which recently launched a prediction market platform.
