Club Tijuana Preview
The goal in 2026 is set for Sebastián Abreu and his men to finish inside a playoff position once match-day 17 concludes. The previous tournament saw Los Xolos secure seventh place with six victories. Tijuana ranked in the middle of its competitors in terms of goals for and against throughout the Apertura. With the minimum roster turnover, we should see similar production up front and defensive play on display.
The club still employs one of the central pieces in Tijuana’s project, Gilberto Mora, as the 17-year-old is primed for another massive year. After a breakout year with his club and country at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, European clubs are keeping tabs on the El Tri wonderkid. Throughout the 2025 Apertura, Mora obtained four goals and an assist in 13 appearances on the pitch. Look for the high-pressing winger to be active with his boots on Friday, as he averaged 1.6 shots per match in 2025.

Club America Preview
Andre Jardine’s crew are expected to be one of the favourites entering the 2026 Clausura. The 16-time league champions underperformed to their usual standards in 2025; a sluggish start set the tone for how the regular season and playoffs would unfold in the Apertura. The club has retained most of its firepower, which can make a championship run.
Much of Las Aguilas’ success will hinge on Saint-Maximin, Rodriguez and Zendejas leading the production on attack. Between the trio, they managed to contribute 16 of Club America’s 33 deposited goals during the 2025 Apertura regular season. So far, the club's marquee signing this winter is 31-year-old midfielder Rodrigo Dourado. The veteran has loads of Liga MX experience, joining San Luis in 2022, and has made 120 appearances across regular-season and postseason play, scoring five goals and recording four assists.

Club Tijuana vs. Club America - My Pick
Club Tijuana vs. Club America pick: Club Tijuana +1 Asian Handicap -175 at BetRivers
Wagering against Club America doesn’t yield a profit most of the time, but we feel this is a situational spot to back the home side on Friday. The Mexican giants, going back to the two previous seasons, have only won in eight of its 17 away trips during the regular season.
Estadio Caliente hasn’t been kind to this weekend's travelling club, with the previous 16 matches seeing Club America come out on top only five times. We feel Tijuana can keep pace with the giants of Mexico, and even if Las Águilas comes out on top, we don’t expect a heavy defeat for Los Xolos; at worst, we hope to recover our stake if they lose by a one-goal margin.
