Best NBA Prop Bets for Wednesday, October 23
Tyrese Haliburton Over 9.5 Assists (-125) at FanDuel
The Indiana Pacers took the basketball world by storm last year with their breakneck, free-flowing style of play that led to them finishing second in offensive rating. Haliburton was at the center of that, averaging 10.9 assists in just 32.2 minutes per game.
The 24-year-old is still getting better and had the experience of playing (used loosely) with Team USA during the summer Olympics. Many teams aren’t don’t enter the season in shape, and Haliburton’s constant pressure and the Pacers’ speed should lead to him finding easy assists in transition.

Bam Adebayo 2+ Threes (+230) at FanDuel
Adebayo became a stretch big out of nowhere in the middle of last season. He attempted just 0.6 threes per game for the season overall but shot 35.7 percent from deep, which is not a bad percentage for a player who took a total of 62 threes in the six seasons prior.
Adebayo took threes with Team USA and has put in plenty of time trying to perfect his jump shot. He’ll need to take and make these shots to help the Miami Heat maintain their spacing, but he’s too impactful on other areas of the court to pressure him on the perimeter.

Marcus Smart Over 3.5 Assists (-113) at FanDuel
Smart averaged 4.3 assists in 20 games with the Memphis Grizzlies last year. He won’t have the ball in his hands as much as he did before with Ja Morant back in the lineup, but he’ll also have more capable teammates to pass to and to help him get over his assists total.
In addition to the obvious Morant, Desmond Bane, and Jaren Jackson Jr., any time that Smart can get the ball to rookie center Zach Edey on the block, there’s a better chance than not he’ll get an assist. The Utah Jazz finished last year with the worst defensive rating in basketball and don’t have the personnel to hound opposing ball handlers.

Bradley Beal Under 3.5 Assists (+112) at FanDuel
The longtime Washington Wizard averaged 5.0 assists per game during the last regular season and 4.5 in the playoffs. He also recorded four in just 30 minutes, below what he averaged last year, in the final preseason game against the Lakers. So why are we taking the under?
The Suns pivoted to coach Mike Budenholzer, who will have the ball in the hands of Devin Booker or new arrival Tyus Jones when initiating the offense. Beal is not a true playmaker and initiator and shouldn't be asked to orchestrate too much of the offense, which lowers his potential for assists.

Brandin Podziemski Over 8.5 Points (-128) at FanDuel
The Golden State Warriors turned down the chance to trade for Lauri Markkanen because they didn’t want to part with Podziemski. He averaged 9.2 points per game on 45/39/63 shooting splits as a rookie last year and quickly earned the trust of coach Steve Kerr, who started him 28 times and played him 26.6 minutes per game.
Podziemski trained as part of the select team in preparation for the summer Olympics and beat this line in the final three preseason games, scoring nine, 12, and 16 points. The Portland Trail Blazers ranked 23rd in defensive rating last year, and this line is fairly low for a player of Podz’s ability.
