NBA Player Props and Best Bets for October 24: Will Tatum Come Out Firing Again?
The NBA’s return continued on Thursday with four matchups across the league, including several debutants and the defending champions.
Six of the eight teams in action on Thursday will make their 2024-25 NBA season debuts. They’ll be joined by the Boston Celtics, who tied an NBA record for made threes in a game on Tuesday, and the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are looking for their first win of the year.

Best NBA Prop Bets for Thursday, October 24
Jayson Tatum Over 28.5 Points (-113) at FanDuel
Tatum started the season with a fire in his eyes. He scored 37 points on 14-18 shooting (8-11 3PT) in just 30 minutes against the Knicks and showcased a beautiful new jumpshot form that, notably, did not include the hitch that has been present for years.
Tatum was controversially benched by Steve Kerr during the Olympics. He appears to have taken that as motivation, which is a terrifying sight for the rest of the league. He scored at least 30 points in three straight meetings with the Wizards, who had the third-worst defensive rating in the league last year.

Kyle Kuzma Over 6.5 Rebounds (+118) at FanDuel
Kuzma averaged 6.6 boards per game last year and has always been a solid rebounder for being slight of frame and a mix between a small and power forward. It may seem as if there won’t be enough rebounds to go around with Jonas Valanciunas and Alex Sarr also expected to start next to Kuzma, but we believe there will be.
Sarr grabbed three, four, and nine rebounds in three preseason games. Kuzma, meanwhile, was much more stable and hit six boards in the only games he played at least 25 minutes (after he averaged 32.6 last year). The Celtics’ reliance on three-pointers will ensure there are long rebounds for Kuz to track down.

Chris Paul Over 7.5 Assists (-136) at FanDuel
Paul averaged 6.8 assists in 26.4 minutes with a Golden State Warriors team that he just did not fit with. He averaged more assists per game than this line in every season of his career except for two in which he was not the primary point guard (OKC Thunder 2019-20, Warriors 2023-24) and has a human cheat code with Victor Wembanyama at his disposal.
The Spurs averaged a higher assist percentage than any team in the league last year, which means that they know how to get players in positions to succeed. Paul will be a calming presence for a team that is young but also added a few consistent veterans, and he’ll be looking to pass more than score now that he’s 39 years old.

DeMar DeRozan Under 0.5 Threes (+124)at FanDuel
“Deebo” took the second-most three-pointers per game of his career last season, though that amounted to just 2.8 (and 0.9 makes) per game on 33.3 percent shooting. He isn’t comfortable taking shots from that far and instead dominates the mid-range and the interior with his elite footwork.
The Kings have a big man in Domantas Sabonis, a do-it-all guard in De’Aaron Fox, and lots of three-point spacers. DeRozan won’t be asked to or need to camp out by the three-point line to get in on the action.

Alex Caruso Under 9.5 Points (-106) at FanDuel
The new arrival on the Thunder gets to take on the Denver Nuggets in his debut with his new team. He averaged 10.1 points per game last year (the highest of his career) but won’t be asked to be much of a scorer on this team, given the talent around him.
Caruso’s biggest impact will come on the defensive end, where he and Lu Dort will form one of the most intimidating tandems of perimeter defenders. He’ll spend a lot of time on Jamal Murray and Russell Westbrook, and the offense should be less of a focus—at least in this instance.
