NBA Player Props and Best Bets: James Harden, Anthony Edwards & More Picks for Monday, Feb. 9
The Super Bowl might be over, but the NBA is back in session on Monday, and I have my best player prop picks to share for the matchups.
Jalen Brunson dropped 31 points and eight assists as the New York Knicks cruised past the Boston Celtics yesterday, while Kawhi Leonard put up 41 points and eight rebounds to lift the Los Angeles Clippers past the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Monday’s schedule is headlined by the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons facing the hottest team in the league, the Charlotte Hornets, before the Oklahoma City Thunder visit the Los Angeles Lakers.
Here are my top NBA player prop picks and bets for Monday, Feb. 9.

LaMelo Ball Under 19.5 Points (-106) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Ball went under in all matchups with teams ranked in the top five in defensive rating. That includes the Pistons, who held him to eight points on 3-14 shooting in a blowout loss on Dec. 20.
The 24-year-old went under this line in four of his last seven games and only shot 37.3 percent from the field to start February. For as well as the Hornets are playing, Ball’s biggest contributions have come as a facilitator, as he’s come closer to shooting his team out of several contests.

Luke Kennard Over 8.5 Points (-130) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Kennard scored 10 points and went 2-4 from downtown in his Lakers debut against the Golden State Warriors on Friday. He also played 26 minutes, which was even more than Austin Reaves, and figures to continue to see heavy time on the floor as the Lakers prioritize shooting and spacing.
For as strong of a defense as the Oklahoma City Thunder have, they have been in the bottom 10 in three-point defense all year. Kennard also shot an absurd 49.7 percent from three and is at 44.2 percent for his career, and he scored 12 points in his last matchup with OKC on Dec. 29.

James Harden Under 21.5 Points (-128) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Harden scored 23 points and went 5-8 from three-point land in his Cavaliers debut on Saturday. However, that was against the hapless Sacramento Kings, who rank 27th in points allowed per game to the Denver Nuggets’ 19th, and Harden shot 62.5 percent from deep despite averaging 35.3 percent for the year.
The Nuggets ranked 11th in points allowed per game over the last few weeks, and Harden still has a huge adjustment ahead of him as he assimilates in Cleveland. He scored 25 points against the Nuggets a couple of weeks ago, but I expect him to struggle since he has spent very little time with his new teammates.

Anthony Edwards Over 28.5 Points (-108) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Edwards only scored 24 points in his matchup with the Clippers last night, which broke a four-game streak of him scoring at least 30 points. He averaged 29.6 points per game and already scored 30 points on 55.6 percent shooting when he met the Atlanta Hawks back on New Year’s Eve.
The Hawks ranked 21st in points allowed per game over their last 15 outings and have routinely not played up to their defensive potential. Edwards played 37.5 minutes per game this month and will get plenty of chances against a team that loves to fly up and down the court.

Anthony Black Under 16.5 Points (-132) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Black went over in four of his last six outings, but he only shot 39 percent from the field and 21.7 percent from three-point land in February. He’s also going to fall in the pecking order with Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, and Desmond Bane all fighting to be available for tonight’s matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Bucks are right about average on defense, but Black’s recent inefficiency, combined with an expected decrease in shooting opportunities, put him at risk of going under this line. He also made less than one three-pointer per game, so he’ll have to really work for his points.
