As the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks prepare for Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Friday, the latest NBA Championship odds are shifting rapidly, and I have my best player prop picks today prepared for the matchup.
Jalen Brunson came up big down the stretch for his team, scoring 30 points after battling through knee and ankle injuries to help steal Game 1 on the road. This is the first time in these playoffs the Spurs have been down 0-1, and they already blew their home-court advantage.
On the other side, Victor Wembanyama had 26 points and 12 rebounds, but he only shot 28.6 percent from the floor and had six turnovers in Game 1. Dylan Harper was a sparkplug off the bench and will have given coach Mitch Johnson a lot to think about as veteran starter De’Aaron Fox continues to struggle.
Here are my top Knicks vs. Spurs Game 2 NBA player prop picks and bets today for Friday, June 5.

While Brunson led the game in scoring on Wednesday, it took him a ton of shots to reach 30 points. It was Towns who presented consistent problems, including for Wembanyama, with his ability to take the ball off the bounce and to create for his teammates.
I believe that the Spurs are going to make adjustments to their defensive coverage to try to shut off the well for Towns, knowing they can survive if Brunson shoots the ball as poorly as he did throughout the game until the final minutes. Plus, despite just praising him, Towns only barely crept over this line with 18 points on 46.7 percent shooting in Game 1.

Call it inexperience on the playoff stage, call it injury-related performance decline, but the bottom line is that Fox has been abysmal offensively for a while now. The 28-year-old followed up an 11.2-point scoring on 36.5 percent shooting average in the Western Conference Finals by scoring seven points on 23.1 percent shooting in Game 1.
Fox also isn’t the defender that Dylan Harper is, and he no longer appears to be able to keep pace with him as a scorer, either. This is the time for Johnson to be cutthroat, and Fox could find himself with less playing time, if not being benched.

Wembanyama found himself tied up with Towns and Mitchell Robinson under the hoop somewhat frequently on Wednesday, similar to what happened against the Oklahoma City Thunder, which left lots of rebounding opportunities for the Spurs’ guards and wings. That included Vassell, who snagged nine boards.
The Knicks don’t have great rebounding guards or wings, aside from Josh Hart, and Vassell’s activity has been great in these playoffs. He went over in four of seven games in the last series and should bring as much energy as he can to avoid falling into a 0-2 hole.

Castle was held to just three assists in Game 1 as the Spurs only shot 36 percent from the floor. Fox led the team in assists with five, but as mentioned previously, he could be in for a serious decline in usage.
The Spurs bricked a ton of open shots, especially threes, in Game 1, which ate into Castle’s potential assists total. They also gave the ball to Wembanyama in transition and beyond the arc far too frequently and should place an emphasis on getting him closer to the rim, which means the ball should be in Castle’s hands more often.

Shamet is a career 38.6 percent shooter from beyond the arc who went into another stratosphere in recent weeks. The 29-year-old shot 3-6 in Game 1 after he went over in three of four games in the Eastern Conference Finals by shooting an absurd 11-12 from distance.
All things considered, Shamet simply cannot sustain his recent level of efficiency from beyond the arc. He also picked up four fouls in his 33 minutes on the court in Game 1, and I believe the Spurs could hunt him on the defensive side, which would likely result in him being subbed out for a better option.
