After starting strong in the first quarter of their quarterfinal match against France, Germany tailed off as the game went on, eventually giving up their lead. Germany couldn’t hold off France in the paint, allowing them to shoot 61.1% from inside the arc despite a strong three-point defense that limited them to 22.2% efficiency. Dennis Schroder was the bright spot for Germany in the loss, posting 18 points, four assists, and three made threes despite shooting 33.3% from the field and 27.3% from deep.

Serbia was incredible through three-quarters of their quarterfinal matchup against the United States, particularly from three-point range. Despite Jokic’s shooting struggles, he still led Serbia with 17 points, 11 assists, and five rebounds on 41.2% from the field.

Germany is an uptempo team whose energy needs to be matched if Serbia hopes to leave the Olympics with a medal. Despite their struggles shooting the ball last time out, Germany was capable from three-point range behind the contributions of Schroder, Obst, and Bonga. If Serbia can summon the quality they showed against the United States, expect a dominant showing against their European rivals.
