A new episode of the Ride the Line podcast is out now on all WSN platforms!

MLB Wednesday Best Bets

On today’s episode of the show, Grant Mitchell and Tanner Kern give their favorite betting picks for the MLB Wednesday schedule. Tanner is traveling across the country but still made it to the recording session to share what he believes are great opportunities to beat the sportsbooks.

Tanner’s first pick is for the San Diego Padres to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates and avenge a Wednesday loss. Blake Snell has been locked in as of late and has a 0.36 ERA in June. He is facing a talented opponent in Mitch Keller but has been playing the best baseball of his career and should lead his team to a win, per Tanner.

Grant’s first pick is for the Atlanta Braves to cover the runline at home against the Minnesota Twins. The Braves stayed red-hot at the plate and hit five home runs in the first 1.1 innings of Tuesday’s game against Joe Ryan, and Grant expects them to carry that momentum into Wednesday’s home matchup.

Tanner’s next pick is a bold one, and it’s for the Oakland Athletics +1.5 against the New York Yankees. Oakland has the worst record in baseball but already beat the Yankees in Game One of the series and has been making money against the spread lately. Domingo German is going for the Yankees and recently disappointed in his last start, which is another reason for Tanner's optimism with the A’s.

While it may sound blasphemous to take Oakland to once again hang with a brand as large as the Yankees, the latter’s offense has fallen off a cliff in the absence of the injured Aaron Judge to the point that it looks like an entirely different team.

More MLB Betting Picks

Grant’s second pick of the show is the Miami Marlins moneyline on the road against the Boston Red Sox. The Marlins took it to the Sox Tuesday and beat them 10-1 and are now 46-34 on the year, while the Sox are 40-40. Miami also has Braxton Garrett (3-2, 3.64 ERA) going against Kaleb Ort (1-1, 5.79 ERA), meaning it has the advantage both at the plate and on the mound.

Tanner’s final pick of the show is the Texas Rangers on the spread against the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers got a surprise win in the first game of the series and were in pole position Tuesday until they gave up a five-run eighth inning and ultimately lost 8-3.

The Rangers also have a massive advantage on the mound with Dane Dunning (6-1, 2.76 ERA) going against Joey Wentz (1-8, 6.72 ERA). For a team that has the second-best record against the spread in all of baseball, and considering they are at home, that’s too good to pass up in Tanner’s eyes.

Grant’s final pick of the show is for the Houston Astros to bounce back and pick up a win at plus-money after dropping the series opener 4-2. While they are not the same Astros team that was perennial World Series favorites, they are still a solid team and one that is much better than the St. Louis Cardinals. Cristian Javier ( 7-1, 3.25 ERA) is also getting the start against Miles Mikolas (4-5, 4.23 ERA) and should be able to give them an early lead.

Those were all of the picks from Wednesday’s show—check out the video for yourself for extra information and insights, and check back throughout the week for more betting picks, NFL season previews, banter, and much more!
