WNBA Player Props and Predictions: A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Michell, Aliyah Boston, and More

The WNBA schedule is absolutely loaded tonight, with four games on deck featuring several of the most exciting players in the league in action. While plenty of bettors are already rushing to lock in their long-term WNBA Championship predictions, it is simply too early to draw hard conclusions about these rosters, which makes tonight a great night to bet on WNBA player props.

I’ve got nothing against the traditional betting line, of course. But at this early stage of the season, I find the absolute best bets to be player props and individual performances, rather than trusting the entire team.

Seattle Storm vs. Toronto Tempo

• Marina Mabrey, Over 23.5 Pts + Reb at -102

Mabrey had a pretty big day for the Tempo in the team’s first regular-season game, scoring 27 points and pulling down seven rebounds. Both numbers are higher than her career averages (12.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game). But it looks like she could be the focal point of the Tempo offense.

Seattle is in a rebuild, with a lot of new moving parts still learning to play together. Mabrey is a veteran going into her eighth season. She’ll know how to take advantage of a Storm team still trying to gel. I expect her to be closer to 20 points tonight and five rebounds.

Las Vegas Aces vs. Connecticut Sun

• A’ja Wilson, Under 10.5 Rebounds at -114

Wilson is one of the best rebounders in the league. She averaged 10+ in games against the Sun last season and had 10+ in four of her first five games to start the season last year. So, we know she is capable of so much more than the four rebound nights she’s turned in so far.

Connecticut is not a good team and could be an easy one for her to blow up in. While I know she can go over 10.5, I’m not comfortable taking an over that is so much higher than what we’ve seen so far.

Chicago Sky vs. Golden State Valkyries

• Kayla Thornton, 3+ Made Threes at +188

It surprised me to see her total for made threes in this game set at 1.5, but the price for the over is -172. But if we go for 3+, which is in line with what we’ve seen from her this season, we can go from winning $58.14 to $188 on a $100 wager.

To be fair, she didn’t average two per game last season, but Chicago’s perimeter defense was nothing special in the Sky’s opener. So, I’m going with the value play and taking her to hit 3+.

Indiana Fever vs. Los Angeles Sparks

• Aliyah Boston, Over 16.5 Points at +100

Boston had 23 in the opener but averaged 15 points per game last season. So, I’d expect some regression, especially with Caitlin Clark back in the lineup. However, the Sparks had one of the worst defenses in the WNBA last season and just gave up 105 in their season opener.

Kelsey Mitchell will lead the way for the Fever along with Clark. But there is more value in taking Boston to go over her total than in either Mitchell or Clark going over their respective totals.

• Kelsey Plum, Over 18.5 Points at -114

Plum has 27 points in a losing effort in the Sparks' season opener against a good Las Vegas Aces team. In this game, they’ll face an Indiana team with a lot of offensive firepower that struggles to play defense. Last season, Plum averaged 19.5 points per game against the Sparks in four contests.

With Indiana’s up-tempo pace putting points on the board, the Sparks will need to follow suit. LA has other scoring options, which is why I don’t expect another 27-point night out of her. But she’ll score enough to go over this total against Indiana’s porous defense.
