WNBA Player Props and Predictions: Featuring Kelsey Plum, Breanna Stewart, and More

Thursday’s WNBA slate features some of the best and brightest players in the league, making it a great night for betting on WNBA player props. With several superstars taking the court, strong performances tonight could drastically shift the current WNBA MVP odds. The night starts with the Golden State visiting an injury-ravaged New York Liberty squad. Toronto is taking on Minnesota, and Phoenix is hosting Los Angeles.

Now, there isn’t really a bad night for betting on WNBA player props; unless no games are scheduled, that is.

Golden State Valkyries vs. New York Liberty Prediction

• Breanna Stewart, Over 20.5 Points at -125

If the Liberty were at full strength for this game, I might be inclined to go with the under because Golden State plays solid defense and could contain Stewart or force her to pass more to her teammates than shoot.

But while Sabrina Ionescu is a game-time decision, the roster has still been hit hard with injuries. So, even if Ionescu returns, Stewart will need to lead the way on the scoreboard for New York to win. She has gone over this number in three of four games this season.

Be sure to check the injury report since several players are listed as “GTD.” If most of the game time decisions play, i.e., Ionescu, Sabally, etc., the under may become the right play.

• Veronica Burton, Over 13.5 Points at -110

Burton averages 15 points a game and has yet to record fewer than 13 points (16,13, and 16). Her field-goal percentage is a little concerning (35.1%), but the New York defense has been giving up 87 points per game (tied for ninth-best). She has averaged 12.3 shot attempts per game. 

As long as she takes 12+ shots and continues to get 4-6 from the free throw line, she’ll definitely go over this total.

Toronto Tempo vs. Minnesota Lynx Prediction

• Kiki Rice, Over 12.5 Points at -102

After a scoreless debut, Rice has averaged 14+ points per game (12, 11, 19, 15). Minnesota is dealing with injuries and has allowed an average of 86.8 points per game. More shot attempts would help, but trips to the line should give her a good chance to clear this total.

• Kayla McBride, to record 4+ rebounds at +102

If you just look at her average (4.8 rebounds per game), this prop doesn't seem like a good idea. But her average is low because she only had two in each of Minnesota’s first two games. In the last two, she has had seven and eight.

However, 4.8 rebounds per game is a new career high, so it may be wise not to expect too much from her. But after watching the last two games, this number is certainly possible, making this a solid value play at +102.

Los Angeles Sparks vs. Phoenix Mercury Prediction

• Kelsey Plum, Over 20.5 Points at -114

I’m a little surprised Plum’s point total is set as low as it is for this game. She has 25+ points in all four of LA’s games this season and is averaging 59.4% from the floor. Phoenix has a mediocre defense on its best days. So, I wouldn’t expect it to slow Plum down at all. She should have no problem going over this total against the Mercury tonight.

• Jovana Nogić, Over 2.5 Made Threes at -106

Nogić has gone over this total in three of five games. In one of the two games, she recorded zero, but she only played in 17 minutes and took six shots (missing all of them). She made just two of nine attempts in Tuesday’s game against Toronto. However, she went 5-8, 4-5, and 4-5 in her other three games.

Minnesota has been stingy on the perimeter, but with how well Nogić has been shooting this season, she has an excellent chance of recording three against the Lynx in this game.
