France vs. Morocco Prop Bets

France is the favorite not just for this game, but to win the entire tournament, a status backed up by the vast majority of mainstream World Cup predictions. It has been excellent so far and is the only team to have won every match it has contested in 90 minutes. After topping its group with victories over Senegal, Iraq and Norway, Les Bleus breezed past Sweden in a 3-0 triumph in the round of 32, before edging out Paraguay 1-0 in a grueling last-16 tie.

Morocco finished as runner-up in its group after tying its meeting with Brazil, before back-to-back victories over Scotland and Haiti. The fourth-place finisher from 2022, Morocco proceeded to eliminate the Netherlands on penalties following a 1-1 draw, after which it beat co-host Canada 3-0 in the round of 32.

Tied First Half ($0.41) at Kalshi

Morocco will be without its star striker today, with Ismael Saibari taken off against Canada with an injury. That is a blow to its chances of pulling off a surprise win against France. The absence of Saibari means Morocco will have to work harder to find the back of the net. It could also lead the Atlas Lions to adopt a more cautious approach.

Mohamed Ouahbi was appointed as Morocco’s new coach earlier this year with a remit to give the team a more proactive, possession-based identity. But in the last round against Canada, Morocco went back to its roots, sitting deep, allowing its opponent the ball, and breaking forward quickly on the counter-attack.

We will see more of the same against France, a team that thrives in open space. Ouahbi’s principal priority will be to keep things tight at the back. In the first half in particular, we will not necessarily see a huge number of chances at either end.

It is instructive, too, that four of Morocco’s five matches at this tournament have been level at the interval. France will want to establish an early lead here, but it will have to be patient. Tip a tied first half at $0.41 with Kalshi.

Under 2.5 Goals ($0.52) at Kalshi

The next pick from our daily World Cup team props relates to the number of goals we are likely to see in the first quarter-final. France has dazzled offensively up to now, with Didier Deschamps displaying a greater willingness to give his attacking players freedom than in previous campaigns. That is perhaps because this is to be Deschamps’ final tournament as France boss.

France has been a joy to watch so far. It scored three goals against each of Senegal, Iraq and Sweden, and put four past Norway on matchday three of the group stage. France only managed to find the back of the net once against Paraguay last time out, but that was still enough for it to progress to the quarter-finals. However, we could be set for another low-scoring game today.

There have been two goals or fewer in three of Morocco’s five games so far. The exceptions were a dead rubber against Haiti in the group phase, plus the 3-0 victory over Canada last weekend in which the third goal was scored in the eighth minute of second-half stoppage time.

The stakes could not be higher at this stage of the competition, when one mistake has the potential to knock your country out of the World Cup. When these two teams met in the semi-finals in 2022, there were only two goals. Tip under 2.5 goals again today at $0.52 with Kalshi.

Michael Olise +1 Assist ($0.31) at Kalshi

The focus of our soccer player props odds today is based on the assist market rather than the more popular goalscorer alternative. To the surprise of no one with even a passing interest in soccer, Kylian Mbappe is the favorite to find the back of the net in this tantalising tussle between France and Morocco. But better value can be found in backing Michael Olise to lay on a goal for one of his team-mates.

Olise has been magnificent so far this summer. He started France’s opening game against Senegal on the right wing, but after an underwhelming collective performance in the first half, Didier Deschamps moved him into the No.10 berth at the break. It worked a treat, as Olise pulled the strings after the interval to set France on the path to a 3-1 win.

Olise has continued in the same vein ever since. Granted, he was quiet against a Paraguay team which condensed space between the lines and attempted to physically intimidate France, but other than that Olise has been electric over the last few weeks. Ordinarily a team like Morocco would put a special emphasis on shutting the playmaker down, but it cannot afford to do that against such a multi-pronged France frontline.

Olise leads the World Cup assist charts with five. Back him to add another to his tally against Morocco, a position which costs $0.31 on Kalshi.
