Betfred Continues US Expansion by Launching First Sportsbook in Pennsylvania

Betfred Launching First Sportsbook Pennsylvania
  • Betfred USA partners with Wind Creek Hospitality launching new Bethlehem, PA site
  • A formal event celebrating the grand opening took place Saturday with invited guests
  • Wind Creek has major plans to invest millions into the property’s ongoing expansion

Wind Creek Hospitality and Betfred USA Sports have collaborated to announce the opening of the newest sportsbook in Pennsylvania at Wind Creek Bethlehem. Betfred USA Sports is the US division of well-known British bookmaker Betfred, the casino operator created early this year.

This sportsbook is the first for Wind Creek in the United States, but the third for Betfred Sports which has other sportsbook locations at Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort in Larchwood, Iowa, and at the Saratoga Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado.

The facility had a soft opening last Wednesday at Wind Creek’s Bethlehem casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Wind Creek and Betfred then held a more formal grand opening ceremony to celebrate the new addition to Wind Creek Bethlehem’s offering. The event took place on Saturday, November 21, and was attended by invited guests.

The opening of the Pennsylvania sportsbook site officially highlights the landmark deal between Wind Creek and Betfred that the two companies signed in January. The launch of the retail onsite facility will be followed by the rollout of a Betfred-powered online sportsbook in the coming weeks. The digital product will be available throughout the state.

The sportsbook in Bethlehem occupies the space of the former Buddy V’s Ristorante and features two state-of-the-art video walls, 31 TVs, three-betting windows plus eight self-service betting kiosks. Space also has multiple viewing areas and a sports pub that will serve food and beverages.

Great Opportunity for both Companies in Pennsylvania

Betfred USA Sports COO Bryan Bennett said that they are extremely excited about their partnership with Wind Creek and that they could not be happier with the launch of their third US-based sportsbook in one year. Mr. Bennett added, “Pennsylvania is a massive sports betting market and that they are looking forward to helping Wind Creek Bethlehem become a go-to destination for sports bettors.”

Wind Creek Hospitality President and CEO Jay Dorris commented:

Opening a sports betting facility at our Pennsylvania property provides yet another exciting gaming opportunity for our guests and our partnership with Betfred will allow them to bring a first-class sports betting experience in a high energy environment to the property.

Overall, Pennsylvania occupies one of the most competitive sports wagering markets in the US. Betfred and Wind Creek’s entry into Bethlehem marks the 13th retail location. When operative soon, it will be the 11th online option available for PA bettors.

Major Plans for Wind Creek Hospitality at Bethlehem Site

Wind Creek Hospitality is an authority of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. Wind Creek Hospitality manages the tribe’s gaming facilities including Wind Creek Atmore, Wind Creek Wetumpka, Wind Creek Montgomery, Wind Creek Bethlehem, Wa She Shu Casino in Nevada, Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino, Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino, and WindCreekCasino.com. They also manage racetrack facilities in Alabama and Florida.

The company secured the necessary regulatory approval offering onsite wagering at their Bethlehem casino as well as a digital betting product in June. This newest addition in Pennsylvania comes as part of the property’s ongoing expansion.

Wind Creek originally purchased its Bethlehem, PA casino in 2019, promising to invest $100 million toward building a 270-room hotel that will attach to the property’s existing 282-room hotel. Another $250 million will be targeted into building an indoor water park and entertainment complex.
