How to Unlock Prizes for North Carolina Sports Betting

North Carolina launched retail sports betting in 2019 but did not pass legislation for online sports betting until the summer of 2023. Online sportsbooks were allowed to pre-register customers starting on March 1, and the online market finally launched on March 11.

While the online market is still young, it’s getting off to a frenzied start with the kick-off of the NCAA Tournament. With plenty of games to come, having an extra $250 in bonuses is a great way to prepare for the rest of March.

DraftKings customers can win their $250 in prizes by following these steps:

  1. Visit the DraftKings sportsbook and click “Sign Up”

  2. Enter your personal details when prompted

  3. Place a bet worth at least $5 on Howard vs. Wagner

  4. Win $250 in bonus bets instantly

Bonus bets are like credits that can be redeemed only at DraftKings. These credits cannot be withdrawn for cash but can be used to fund bets in any valid market on the DraftKings sportsbook until they expire.

Anyone interested in redeeming DraftKings’ special March Madness promo must be 21 or older and may not already have a DraftKings account. Users in states other than North Carolina can redeem $150 in prizes.

DraftKings also offers a variety of recurring promotions for new and returning visitors, such as parlay insurance, profit boosts, and more.

DraftKings is legal in all of the following states: AZ, CO, CT, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MD, MA, MI, NH, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, TN, VT, VA, WV, WY.

North Carolina DraftKings $250 Bonus: Everyone’s a Winner During March Madness

The American Gaming Association estimated that legal sportsbooks will handle $2.72 billion in bets during March Madness and will outperform totals recorded during the Super Bowl, which puts into perspective just how big of a draw the tournament is.

The first game of the tournament pits the Howard Bison against the Wagner Seahawks in a battle to see who will earn the right to play No. 1 UNC in the Round of 64.

Howard is led by guard Bryce Harris, who averaged 16.6 points and 7.6 rebounds on 55.3% field goal shooting. The team shoots 37.4% from three but commits a ton of turnovers, which could be its Achilles heel in a one-and-done format.

On the other side is Wagner, a team that finished sixth in the Northeast Conference but won the postseason tournament, defeating Merrimack in the final. They’re led by junior guard Melvin Council Jr., whose 14.6 points and 5.7 rebounds are both team-highs. This team shoots below 40% from the field but is better on defense and will hope to win a low-scoring outing.

Basketball statistics website KenPom has Howard ranked 17 spots ahead of Wagner. DraftKings has the Bison as a 3.5-point favorite the morning of the matchup.
