North Carolina welcomed sports betting at tribal casinos in 2019 but did not legalize online sports betting until the summer of 2023. After a preparatory period, the state went live with online betting sites on March 11, about a week and a half before the start of the tournament.
As if March Madness did not come with enough excitement, DraftKings is ensuring the action never stops by offering bettors the chance to start with $250 in bonuses as soon as they place their first bet.
DraftKings customers can unlock the $250 bonus by following these steps:
Enter your personal details when prompted
Place a bet worth at least $5 on any March Madness matchup (no matter the odds)
Win $250 in bonus bets instantly
Bonus bets are not the same as cash and cannot be transferred or withdrawn. Instead, they can be used to fund any bets in valid markets on DraftKings until the bonus bets expire at a specified date.
All DraftKings customers must be 21 or older, inside North Carolina’s border, and may not have an existing DraftKings account to redeem the offer. Customers in other states can still claim a new-user bonus for $150 in bonus bets.
DraftKings also offers customers the chance to tap into a variety of new and ongoing promotions, such as parlay insurance, profit boosts, and more.
DraftKings is legal in all of the following states: AZ, CO, CT, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MD, MA, MI, NH, NJ, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, TN, VT, VA, WV, WY.

We hope that you’re well-prepared for March Madness 2024. Pre-tournament estimates by the American Gaming Association suggested that users will wager $2.72 billion at legal sportsbooks before the conclusion of the national championship game in early April.
The Connecticut Huskies won the national title a year ago and are favored to uphold their glory by running the table for a second straight season. They went 31-3, are elite on both ends and have a first-team All-American in Tristen Newton (15.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists) leading the charge).
The Houston Cougars are second in futures odds after they went 30-4, with two of those losses coming against Iowa State. They play ultra-aggressive defense and have more shot-creators than they did in years past.
The Purdue Boilermakers close out the top three in futures odds behind the play of Wooden Award frontrunner Zach Edey (24.4 points, 11.7 rebounds) and a team that shoots 40.8% from three.
There are a pair of First Four matchups that bettors can use to redeem the offer on Wednesday, including Grambling vs. Montana State and Colorado vs. Boise State.
The 64-team bracket officially gets underway on Thursday at 12:15 p.m. ET with a showdown between No. 8 Mississippi State and No. 9 Michigan State. North Carolina, Arizona, Iowa State, Tennessee, Kentucky, Creighton, and Kansas will all be in action that day as they hope to avoid the pangs of an unexpected elimination early in their quest for a national championship.
