He has stopped 22 of the men placed in front of him, with his one loss also coming inside the distance. The 6’4” orthodox boxer beat Kingsley Ibeh on points back in January.

Despite his experience and reputation, that win over Ibeh remains his only success since March 2023. In his previous three fights, Jarrell was stopped by Dubois in the final round of a contest scheduled for ten in Saudi Arabia. He then boxed a majority decision draw with former world champion Andy Ruiz, before nicking that split decision win over The Black Lion.

Lenier Pero isn’t anywhere near as well-known as his opponent, but he’s desperate to close the gap. The 33-year-old southpaw was born in Camaguey, Cuba, before relocating to Miami to fight on a professional contract. Pero is ranked number two in his homeland behind the great Luis Ortiz, and a lowly 49th in the world. Victory would improve the latter overnight.

With a 13-fight unbeaten record as a prizefighter, Pero has the skills and base to improve. He has beaten eight of his previous opponents without any help from the scoring judges. We last saw Pero when he beat Jordan Thompson on points over ten rounds in Orlando. Saturday represents a huge leap up in class, and it’ll be interesting to see how he copes.

I predict a hair-raising moment for the man who famously lost his wig in a high-profile fight. Miller is good and has the power to hurt opponents, but he blows hot and cold. A lack of consistency is why the American is ranked 28th in the world. It’s nothing to do with a lack of talent. Does he give his all in training camps? At times, it doesn’t look like it.

As I mentioned earlier in my Miller vs Pero preview for World Sports Network readers, I was surprised to see Big Baby as the betting favourite. Before looking at the odds, I imagined we’d be much closer to a 50/50 fight. That makes Pero easy to back. There’s an old saying in sports gambling: trust enough overpriced selections, and you’ll make a long-term profit.

Pero is stepping up in class, but he seems ready and capable of rising to the occasion. The Cuban is an experienced and slick boxer with an elusive style that’s usual for fighters from his part of the world. I’m happy to take Pero to prove the bookies wrong and win.
