Paris Saint-Germain Will Take Some Stopping This Summer

Paris Saint-Germain enjoyed their best ever season in 2024/25. As well as sweeping the board at home, winning the Ligue 1 title and the Coupe de France, PSG finally ended their quest to be crowned kings of the continent. Fresh from their success in the Champions League, Luis Enrique’s side are now looking to win the Club World Cup.

They finished top of Group B despite losing to Botafogo on matchday two. PSG then breezed past Inter Miami in the round of 16, winning 4-0 while barely breaking sweat despite playing in the Atlanta heat.

This will be a sterner examination of PSG’s credentials. However, the Parisians are the favorites to win the competition for good reason. Luis Enrique’s men will take some stopping over the next couple of weeks.

Bayern Munich Looking for Non-Domestic Trophy in the USA

Bayern Munich suffered the ignominy of finishing third in the Bundesliga in 2023/24. Vincent Kompany was appointed last year and given the remit of getting Germany’s biggest back on top domestically, and he fulfilled it by winning the title. However, Bayern did not make it beyond the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Almost four and a half years have now passed since Bayern last won a non-domestic tournament - the 2020 Club World Cup, held in February 2021. Triumphing at this summer’s expanded edition would set them up nicely for next season’s Champions League.

Bayern eliminated Flamengo in the last round. The Brazilians gave as good as they got in that last-16 clash, but Kompany’s charges ultimately edged them out. They are now aiming to do the same to PSG, who start the match as favorites.

Clash of the Titans Will Draw Interest From Around the USA

Attendances were mixed in the group stage of the Club World Cup, but this is exactly the sort of fixture that will draw great interest from around the USA. We should see a packed Mercedes-Benz Stadium for this clash of the titans.

Bayern Munich are better going forward than they are at the back, so they will attack PSG despite being underdogs. The Parisians are a more balanced side, but they too possess a dazzling array of quality in forward areas.

Offenses should thus get the better of defenses in Atlanta. Go for over 3.5 goals when PSG meet Bayern in the quarter-finals.
