Back Paris Saint-Germain to beat Arsenal in the Champions League final in Hungary this weekend. The Gunners have had a fantastic campaign, but they will probably end Saturday disappointed.

The attention of the soccer universe will soon turn towards World Cup 2026, but there is one last game of the European club campaign to finish first. It is a big one too. Paris Saint-Germain face Arsenal in the final of the Champions League on Saturday, as the French and English giants compete for the honor of being crowned kings of the continent.
PSG know exactly what that feels like. They are the Champions League holders following their success in this competition last season. PSG finally got over the line in 2024/25, becoming European champions for the first time after blowing Inter away in the final. In the circumstances, their 5-0 victory over the Italian outfit was one of the greatest performances in the history of the tournament.
Now they are striving to join an exclusive club by retaining the Champions League in its current, post-1992 format. Since then, only Real Madrid (2016, 2017 and 2018) have lifted the trophy in back-to-back years. This weekend, this PSG team has the chance to cement its place in the history books.
Just like last term, PSG started the European season slowly. They once again missed out on a top-eight finish in the league phase, forcing them to go through the knockout play-offs. But Luis Enrique’s side came good when it mattered most, eliminating Monaco, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich over two legs to advance to the final.
Having also taken Barcelona all the way in the Champions League, Luis Enrique is looking to win the tournament for the third time as a coach. That would put him joint-second on the managerial list, alongside Zinedine Zidane, Bob Paisley and Pep Guardiola.

Whatever happens this weekend, Arsenal fans will always look back on this season with fond memories. The Gunners won their first Premier League title in 22 years, finally getting over the line following three consecutive second-place finishes. They were pushed hard by Manchester City, but in the end even Pep Guardiola's side were unable to catch the north Londoners at the summit of the standings.
If Arsenal can combine their Premier League title triumph with victory in the Champions League, this would go down as the greatest season in their existence. Arsenal are arguably the biggest club in Europe to have never won the continent’s foremost prize. This is only their second appearance n the final, and they are hoping for a better outcome than the 2-1 loss to Barcelona in 2006.
Unlike PSG, Mikel Arteta's men impressed from the very start of this year's Champions League. Arsenal won the league phase, finishing above all other 35 teams in the first part of the competition. Not only that, but they were perfect: Arsenal won all eight games to lay down a marker early on.
They have not been quite as convincing as PSG in the knockout stage, beating Bayer Leverkusen, Sporting CP and Atletico Madrid without ever really hitting their top level, but the most important thing is that Arsenal found a way through to the final. Now this group of players is potentially 90 minutes away from achieving immortality.
“This was an incredible night,” Arteta said after the semi-final defeat of Atletico Madrid. “We made history together once again. After 20 years, we are back in the Champions League final. Experiencing moments like this is incredible. Seeing the pride in their eyes is the most beautiful thing. Let’s keep pushing forward!”

This has the makings of a tremendous Champions League final. With all due respect to Inter, it was hard to argue that they were the second-best team in Europe last season, despite their run to the Champions League final. This campaign, it is much easier to make the case that PSG and Arsenal are the strongest sides on the continent (even if Bayern Munich and Barcelona would have something to say about that).
It would be overly simplistic to characterize this match as a meeting between an irresistible force in PSG and an immovable object in Arsenal. The Gunners scored more goals than anyone else in the league phase. PSG demonstrated their defensive resilience in the semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
However, generally speaking it is true to say that PSG’s strength is their offense and Arsenal’s is their defense. PSG play a dazzling brand of front-footed soccer. They are so hard to defend against because their approach combines high level technical mastery with speed and ingenuity. When they are in full flow, they are near-impossible to stop.
If anyone can, it is Arsenal. But it would be a mistake for Arteta’s team to be too passive in this match. Bayern Munich showed in the first leg of that aforementioned semi-final that PSG’s backline is not imperious.
This game could go either way. But on balance, we lean towards PSG. They have experience of winning Champions League finals and are unlikely to be as fatigued as Arsenal. Go for the Parisians over the Londoners in this one.
