Catapulting to the top of the odds charts in weeks span thanks to their solid form, now the Crew are listed as the favorites to capture the 2024 Leagues Cup. On Tuesday evening the Crew were down 2-0 to Inter Miami who were dubbed to repeat as tournament champions before they conceded three unanswered goals. The Crew are streaking at the right time as they have only suffered one defeat in their last 10 matches played in all competitions. In MLS play the Crew are currently occupying the third place spot in the Eastern Conference, amassing 43 points through 23 games.
Before the MLS pause in its campaign for the 2024 Leagues Cup, LAFC are up to their usual tricks and becoming title contenders in every competition they compete in. The club currently sits in second place in the Western Conference, chasing their arch city rivals by two points. Collecting four points in two Leagues Cup affairs, they have booked at least a spot in the round of 32. The further this side goes, the more momentum they will gain chasing their title hopes in the tournament. After 24 games, The Black and Gold Eagles are fourth in MLS in goals scored per game averaging two markers per match.
Since their inception into MLS in 2018, a pair of seasons have been the only blemishes this club has dealt with. In their six previous campaigns, they haven’t finished in the top three in the Western Conference four times. Last year's MLS Cup runners-up look prepared for another run for a new addition to their trophy cabinet. The rich get richer and LAFC is different as they signed the Frances all-time leading goal scorer Olivier Giroud. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is aging like a fine wine and should succeed in MLS. Giroud led Serie A giants AC Milan in the goals department bagging 15 in 2023-24. LAFC were already a lethal club, with the addition of Giroud think they can do damage and have enough depth to hoist the title.

Inter Miami became the first MLS club to capture the Leagues Cup title on the road against Nashville SC. The affair was an instant classic as Inter Miami won on penalties 10 to nine following a 1-1 draw.
Inter Miami CF’s run through the tournament started with a frantic finish with who else but one of the greats of the game, Messi scoring in stoppage time to kick off the competition securing all three points.
Going forward Miami faced their competitors in MLS throughout the rest of the Leagues Cup. In their knockout path, they got past Orlando City SC, FC Dallas, Charlotte FC, and the Philadelphia Union to stamp their ticket in the final.
Since the creation of the League Cup starting in 2019, only three different teams have seized the trophy. The inaugural edition in 2019 saw Cruz Azul defeat Tigres UANL in a Liga MX clash. The 2021 version saw Club Leon win 2-1 over the Seattle Sounders.
The winning squad collects a nice bonus to the bank account for being victorious in the month-long club tournament.
Although the price figures fluctuate yearly, last year, reportedly, the winning side earned up to two million in prize money. After the tournament is concluded, the top three sides will earn a berth in the 2025 CONCACAF Champions Cup, a club tournament featuring teams from various top-flight leagues across North America.
Soccer fans in the United States or Canada can catch the action on Apple TV.
Fans based in Mexico will be able to watch on TUDN.
